Eisenhuth to Debut...

Post by Geo. » Tue 13 Jun, 2017 8:26 pm

Matt Eisenhuth to make first-grade debut

Tue 13th June, 04:20PM

Matt Eisenhuth will become the 205th player to play first-grade for Wests Tigers when he makes his NRL debut this Saturday against the Cronulla Sharks.

Having already featured as 18th man for the side earlier in the year, Eisenhuth has been named in jersey 14 on the interchange bench for his long-awaited NRL debut.

Currently 24 years old, Eisenhuth has been a part of Wests Tigers system since the start of season 2016 and is currently the captain of the Club’s Intrust Super Premierhip team.

One of the most promising youngsters coming through the Parramatta Eels’ system, Eisenhuth showed glimpses of his potential when he made the Australian Schoolboys squad in 2010, before moving on to the Penrith Panthers midway through 2013.

After a tough run of injuries, Eisenhuth eventually made his way to Wests Tigers in 2016 on a part-time contract, but quickly began to make his impact on the side with his high work rate and work ethic. He was rewarded at the end of the year with a full-time contract and moved into the Club’s extended NRL squad for the start of 2017 pre-season training.

Eisenhuth is an extremely hard-working forward capable of playing big minutes anywhere in the forward pack, with his debut a great reward for his recent form.

Over the past month playing in the Intrust Super Premiership competition, Eisenhuth has averaged 51.5 tackles, 101 metres and two offloads per game, as well as two try-assists.

Remarkably, 24-year-old is also the cousin of Sharks captain Paul Gallen, whom Eisenhuth will go head-to-head against this Saturday at Southern Cross Group Stadium.

Wests Tigers would like to congratulate Matt on his debut and wish him all the best!

Hope he smashes Gallen and earns a spot in the side for the rest of the season and possible next.

Another promising young forward that has massive potential. I am glad Cleary is giving these guys a chance for next year.

FWIW I think we may have the least experienced bench of all time. JJ, Liddle, Marsters, Eisenhuth
I will support Wests Tigers through thick or thin
I will be cheering when they win
I will love the Tigers Till I Die
With loyal supporters we will fly
I love the Tigers with my heart and soul
I just love the club as a whole
If the Wests Tigers believe
We will Unite, Commit and Achieve

Hope this guy is a superstar, god knows we bloody need them. I'll settle for him playing well enough to keep Kyle "Hit the ground like a sack of spuds as soon as there's any contact" Lovett out of the squad.
Tigers tragic since 1980.

Eisenhuth works hard and runs hard...persistence has paid off for him..may have seen him earlier if not for injury at the end of pre-season...

Well done Matt...enjoy the day...

I like that he's a bit more mature that extra life experience should motivate him to take the opportunity

Good to see what he's got, given a chance to take on a depleted Sharks pack.

II would really love to see either Eisenhuth or Marsters become good solid first graders. Would be awesome to see one of our own guys put their hand up and take the other backrow position along side Mcqueen for next year. Goodluck to both of them and fingers crossed one of them or both can kick on.
