Will wait until after next week's trial to name a team, but on last night and in the presumed early season absence of Liddle, I would much rather have Godinet in the nine than MM in the meantime
I am not sure that Godinet can cope with the defensive workload in the middle of the field over big minutes.
Neither am I, but whilst MM can put on a hit, he falls down in other areas for mine, including defensively from marker and particularly so after decent minutes. He also just doesn't do the little things in attack that help take the defensive focus off pummelling his runners. They are both players that have been around for a while without cementing an NRL spot, with MM likely only getting the majority of his games last season because of Liddle's absence.

Godinet does not have the sit you on your arse tackle in his arsenal, but works hard and is no walkover, whilst adding a lot more spark than his current competitors for the spot

I agree on Godinet until Liddle is ready. He was a real good late pick up.

MM is too one dimensional and slow - good defender but after that the box is empty.

Anyone leaving Aloiai out of the side is doing a huge injustice to the team. He is our best forward. Beast.
I'd have him starting on the right edge for sure.

Don't mind your team except for MWZ at 5, I doubt he'll make Cleary's team we have potentially 4 first grade wingers, he'll play that beast who got sent off..it took 4 cowgirls to pull him down when he ran the ball and he plays the ball quicker than a heart beat..a very, very important attribute to have for a winger, I can see him and Nofo bringing the ball back on play and making plenty of metres.
Fonua, Nofo and Tui will get us off to a good start to our sets regularly. Fonua looked really hard to tackle and he has a quick play the ball.

I'm not sure where to play Aloiai but he has to be one of the first forwards picked.

We have a lot of depth this year it’s clear to see when Cowboys has Scott and Thurston off we were a class above. Our second unit is very good and I wouldn’t be surprised if we win NSW Cup.

My lineup is 1. Tui 2. MWZ 3. Marsters 4. Milne 5. Nofa 6. Reynolds 7. Brooks 8. Packer 9. Liddle 10. Matulino 11. Lawrence 12. ET 13. Eiso 14. Twal 15. Aloai 16. McQueen 17. Sue 18. Marshall
Can't see Lawrence keeping McQueen out of the starting side.
Thought he matched up well against Ethan Lowe last night and he is a player that I would like at WT.
Yep agree Lawrence is the definition of a great club man but surely McQueen pips him for skill at this stage of their careers
McQueen is the better player but coming back from injury I think he is probably eased back in from the bench. He is more versatile and covers plenty of positions.

5.Nofo.
6.Renyolds.
7,Gamble.
8. Packer
9.Godinet
10. Eiso
11.Twai
12 Mc Queen
13. Taylor.

14. Matulino
15. Felise.
16.Aloai.

I know this is a bit left field but I like the looks of this team
1. Tui
2.Nofo
3.Masters.
4.Miline.
5.Thompson (If he can handle left wing) or MWZ
6.Reynolds.
7,Gamble
8. Packer
9.Brooks (UNTIL Liddle is ready)
10. Matalino
11.Eisenhuth
12 Mc Queen
13. Taylor.

14. Twal
15. Aloai
16. Felise or sue or Grant
17. Marshall or Fonua
Fonua's fitness won't last 40min so an impact bench player only at best

Imagine a team with
Tui Reynolds Brooks Gamble and Marshall
I think there would be a lot of play options and keep the opposition guessing all game

1. Lolohea
2. Nofoaluma
3. Marsters
4. Milne
5. MWZ

6. Reynolds
7. Brooks

8. Packer
9. Mcilwrick
10. Matulino
11. Lawrence
12. McQueen
13. Taylor

14. Marshall
15. Felise
16. Aloiai
17. Twal

Taylor to fill in at hooker while Mcilwrick is off and Aloiai to come in at lock. Marshall to come into the halves if Brooks or Reynolds are off their game.

Eiso and Grant are unlucky to miss out but I believe this is the best team we have.

One thing is for sure
If we forum contributors come up with so many possible team combinations for the 1st round it will no doubt give Ivan a sleepless night or two
It is exciting to have a team where we all push each other to be at our best
Those that don't perform this year could well be on the chopping block come the end of the year while we look for upgrades
Do your best guys (players)

This is about the best team picked so far, I think Grub will go the DH and Benji to 5/8 to rest MM.
It’s a good headache for Ivan to have leavin Eiso and Grant out.

I'd prefer to wait until we see everyone get a run, but I get the feeling the following will be there:

1. Lolohea
2. [MWZ or Thompson]
3. Naiqama
4. Marsters
5. Nofoaluma
6. Reynolds
7. Brooks
8. [either Packer, Twal or Matulino]
9. [id suggest ET will start here]
10. [either Packer, Twal or Matulino]
11. Lawrence
12. Aloiai
13. Eisenhurth

Cleary will link Milne and Nofoaluma on one side then on the other play Marsters and Fonua together.

Just need to see Fonua get his fitness up and that will be our backline id say. The combinations looked right in the first trial. Suited each other.
Its an opinion!

I reckon that is very very close to the team that will run out round 1

Very realistic. .

Marsters is the back up goal kicker...

Not sure on his defence but, what about Thompson as a 9 option/back up?

I watched reply's of the game and saw him at dummy half (looked like him on the iPod screen)a couple of times and he looked good. He has the speed and footwork that would cause defensive lines problems and even create doubt so they don't shift early leaving no room for our halves to play.

I'm not an advocate of moving player positions and this may sound a bit Sheensish, but McIlwrick is a tad vanilla in skill and has defensive misses (yes only a trial but missed a tackle that lead to a try). Liddle is injured and I'm still not sure on how his body is going to handle a full season in 1st grade.

i know reports are he is killing it at training but most of us have others starting ahead of him in the back line. His body shape is right for hooker as well.

Just a thought.

HUSH, HUSH

Which half and his coach are at loggerheads over team selections?

This player wants to swap a member of their spine with a rookie as they’ve struck up quite the combination at training but the coach won’t budge.
