I would’ve been fuming at the refs if we lost that. All the calls seemed to be going the Storm’s way. I’ll be interested to see if there is any talk of the penalty count tomorrow
Year of last finals appearance:
2017 - Storm, Roosters, Broncos, Eels, Sharks, Sea Eagles, Panthers, Cowboys
2016 - Raiders, Bulldogs, Titans
2015 - Rabbitohs, Dragons
2013 - Knights
2011 - Tigers, Warriors

What about when Munster tripped/back slammed on of our players. I thought that would come under a dangerous tackle or a least not in the spirit of the game
Apparently the refs have lodged a protest stating our win was not in the spirit of the game!!

Well that proves it was a rort went wrong.
Watching replay now and just saw lifting tackle on Kev. No difference too one we got penalised for which got them on a roll.

Jyst for record before my time when Easts got rotted in 63 GF the conceded 18 to 7. So it's in the same ball park with a different result.

A big difference for mine, as the held call was made long beforehand, but Cam was the one lifting the leg, so cannot possibly be a penalty.

Some of the penalties against us were warranted, but in saying that the same rules didn't apply to Melbourne. They were given an eternity in the ruck and were allowed to wrestle. We weren't givena fair chance and it certainly looked as though they were refereeing to an agenda.

No team is that undisciplined that they give away 18 penalties. Shame on the NRL and the referees. But full credit to our boys who overcame incredible diversity to win that game.

Well done to Ivan Cleary for building a team that we can all be proud of.

Does anyone think we did it deliberately, especially when they were in our 20 to stop their momentum and expansive plays .
Im sure we did as all teams do, but without counting, i will bet at least half of their penalties were in their own half when they were being bogged down by good defence......and then theyd get a relieving penalty. How fortunate.

There is no way we were that ill disciplined and no way it was consistent both ways. The referees just simply got caught in the occasion. As someone said in another post, everyone turned up for a 300th party and some bastards were there playing a football game.

It was ridiculous that wasn’t a penalty, he called held when he was standing with both feet on the ground and gets lifted and smashed into the ground.

I'm hoping Ivan discusses that call with the refereeing hierarchy. As you say, ridiculous.

Melbourne were offside when defending their own line in the last few minute of the game and were not penalised - the ref put his whistle away. It was so obvious considering we were caned up the other end when we were in the same position.
Scoring that try was close to a miracle yet was so well deserved.

Well said... My sentiments exactly

That Parra Sharks game I think we're down to 10 men at one stage... Hayne was the ref he'd sent one off and two others binned... Farcical

Who was the senior ref blowing all the penalties? He looked intimidated. The sin bin was a huge call with 20 to go, Smith fell over it looked like. And he was flopping like a silly salmon all night just like billy. They are cheats of the highest order. Hopefully the ref gets reprimanded and we get it a bit easier from herein.

Yep the count was very lopsided and in many games over the years I have seen refs try to even the penalty count but not last night.

We did look to give away penalties at times and in many instances it looked deliberate to slow the storm attacking us with speed in broken play.

That back slam was a penalty every day of the week it was after the ref called held. Melbourne played the ball facing the sideline 3 times by my count and on the 3rd we got penalised and I heard the ref saying it was because we crowed the player.

The refing was bad but the win was all the more sweeter

Let’s not forget the dozen looks they had at Brooks try, looking for a reason not to give it.
