Klein Ruined the Game

Post by stevied » Fri 23 Mar, 2018 10:54 pm

I'll get straight to the point - Klein's decision to penalise the Tigers at the death, thereby handing the result to the Broncos, ruined the game. Whether Brisbane or Wests were the better team is irrelevant, Klein ruined this particular game and damaged the game as a whole. Thoughts?

True
I think it was Ku5tom who posted a clip from Gould, filter and co blowing up. I just hope the scrutiny doesn't go away.

Just saw on twitter

1. Foot was out when the Broncos got a penalty 2 seconds later

2. Jack Bird was 1 meter to the side at the play the ball when Brooks kicks the field goal

Either fair and correct ruling means we win

Horrible Horrible performance by the ref

Leaves a sick taste. Even the Broncos players didn't know what the penalty was for. There must have been a fix on, no other explanation.

I thought the same. And why no replay?! Probably because they made the wrong call..

Well spotted and like others, I questioned it at the time. Yet another case of the fashionable side getting the calls against the less fashionable. Can you remember the last time a Golden Point game was decided like that? Let me clarify -a dubious penalty given in front with the game on the line and time virtually expired? I know the answer - we can't have the upstart Wests Tigers win three low scoring battles in a row, especially when it puts them at the top of the table can we??

Like most on the forum I believe we copped the rough end of the pineapple tonight but this has been going on for years. The teams whose coaches carry on like pork chops usually get the best of the refereeing e.g Bennett, Bellamy.
What we need to do we should do behind the scene not in the public arena. Cleary and Pascoe should front the NRL behind closed doors and make it crystal clear that it's over and we won't tolerate it any more. If there are any further instances of one-sided refereeing we will go public on it and threaten the NRL's credibility.
It's even got to the stage were journos like Rothfield and Ritchie are sympathetic. I'm not saying this is a guaranteed solution but we've got to make it clear it's over.

Just a bad decision from the ref
One things for sure
We can all be proud of our team
Ivan has done a great job bringing them together
We can't let Ivan go
We must make his resigning priority
Now who's with me

Even with that freeze frame it is debatable, so no problem with the touchie's call. Though two (probable) points from that marker penalty would have won it for us.

I'm with you and agree, the team's bravery in defense should make all of us proud.

In the past that sort of penalty are the ones always reserved for the less fancied sides like Tigers, Newcastle, Titans & Warriors. You never see them awarded against Broncos, Melbourne, Roosters or Cowboys. Funny that.

I am all for the refs applying the same rules in extra time that they apply during the regular time, because so many just throw the book out the window. In saying that, if they stuff up like Klien tonight they have to be dropped. Its got to be 100% a correct call with no shades of grey

I was 5 metres away from the play when he went into touch, Had no idea they awarded a penalty as i was giving it to the morons for not calling it.

Blown away and knew what was coming once they ignored that. It was so obvious, you cant excuse it you can only say he deliberately ignored it.
Its an opinion!

The way I see it, yes it was a crap call and we were robbed, but at the end of the day having no gun goal kicker cost us. Every team in the comp except us would have had a goal kicker who would have converted MCKs try and that made the difference in the end
