Also in regard to his defence I felt he actually looked better being infield in about the standard halves position. He makes initial contact and with assistance from those around him completes.

Fitness was part of the issue in him being moved to fullback as well I believe

I will but only to Lui is back.

As soon as Lui is fit he would be straight back in the team for mine.

I have watched a lot more Lui games than Blakes but in my opinion from what I have seen Lui is a class above Blakes level.

The main reason we lost the game was down to our own mistakes. Everytime we got the ball, we dropped it, gave away penalties etc. This meant that we started nearly every single set on our 10m line

The bulldogs were rubbish tonight. A team in form would have put 30 on us in the first half.

It's premature to write off a player after a single game.
Spot on!!!
Besides a desperate defense the Dogs were rubbish. We lost because we were worse.I don't remember our error rate being that bad.
Unfortunatly Lazarus looked a bit out of his depth but it could have come down to nerves.
He deserves another crack & if Taumata is back from injury maybe he can start off the bench

he has had one game in first grade. got in and had a go.
did a great tackle which stopped a try in first half. would like him to be halfback for rest of year. but not up to me.
how else can he build up a combo with Benji & Robbie, if he does not get to play in same team as them.

Tough game to debut in but first impressions weren't good.

He deserves a few more chances

I know it was his first game and he played behind a beaten pack, but one thing was pretty clear from this game:

Paris Cobbs wrote:Blake was out there tonight because of injuries to our first and second choice half backs. How many other teams could lose two halfbacks in five weeks and still have someone with Blake's potential to bring in? Everybody expected him to play NRL eventually, probably this year, but due to circumstances beyond anyone's control he has been brought up months earlier than the club wanted. We need to get behind him - he is our half back for the immediate future.
I think its quite a lot later actually

Not a great game by any means. He will take a lot out of the try saving tackle and will be a lot more focused in attack next week as all good players come back from a disappointing game. We will see what he is made of next week.

I must say, it does not help when you are forced to play multiple poistions on your debut....

He played awful - no two ways about it.

Do I hope he gets another chance next week? Yes.

For the record, I thought he was 'pushed' off the field by Leeds. Not a good look in my opinion. Mind you it is just the way I saw it, someone may have a differing view.

How can he really be judged considering how the game unfolded?

The boy can play. Lets give him a chance.

Shane Warne took 708 test wickets for Australia and is the greatest bowler of all time. Why I mention Warnie in this Blake Lazarus thread is because Warnie himself had an undistinguished Test debut, taking 1/150 (Ravi Shastri caught by Dean Jones for 206) off 45 overs, and recorded figures of 1/228 in his first Test series; he took 0/78 in the Fourth Test in Adelaide and was dropped for the Fifth Test on the pace-friendly WACA Ground in Perth. His poor form continued in the first innings against Sri Lanka at Colombo, in which he recorded 0/107.

This started to change thereafter as he got into the groove more of how the Great man, Alan Border wanted him to play.

Blake may never reach the Superstardom of Warnie, but he can play and will become a good 1st grade player.

will be my pick for 7

at this current point in time its clear that moltz is the best 7 option and he is gonna be missed terribly, but parra made a run to the grand final with mortimer hes a string bean himself, sheens just has to give lazzo a role to play not shift him to wing fullback centre all night.

hes got immense talent, he was just found out by a series of unforunate events in last nights game

He was being replaced and Leedsy got him off the field after the drop out to get Daniella on and in the defensive line

Baptism of fire wont hurt him, just needs to get back up on the horse....probably better than a cruisy debut, though thats debatable I guess
