Close To Sellout Expected

STORM MATCH CLOSE TO A SELL OUT
25/08/2010 4:04:23 PM
Wests Tigers would like to advise fans that tickets are selling extremely fast for this Sunday’s Telstra Premiership clash with the Melbourne Storm at Leichardt Oval.

All reserved seating is now sold out and at the current rate of sales, it is predicted that the remaining 3000 general admission tickets should be sold by the end of the working week.

All supporters are encouraged to purchase their tickets online at http://www.weststigers.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or by phoning 1300 12 10 12 as soon as possible or risk missing out.

The match is an important one for Tim Sheens’ men who stand to qualify for a home semi final should they be able to overcome the Melbourne Storm.

Chief Executive of the Wests Tigers Stephen Humphreys said Sunday’s game against the Storm promises to be a great contest.

“There is huge interest from our fans who love nothing more than cheering for their team particularly on a Sunday afternoon at Leichardt Oval,’’ Humphreys said.

“We urge all our fans to purchase their tickets now to avoid the disappointment of missing out on a great day at the footy.”

In anticipation of the sell out, the club will be unable to accept Junior League passes. Arrangements have been made though to provide complimentary access to the game for local junior league players.
Very good to hear that there are arrangements in place for local juniors outside the junior pass option.

Very good to know ticket sales are so healthy

If it's gonna be a sellout by Friday then they shouldn't allow any jnr passes.

If it is sold out by Friday they wont be able to fit anyone else in anyway. So it's probably better to tell everyone that no jnr passes will be allowed so it gives them people a chance to get a ticket before it's sold out. I'm surprised some people didn't think this game would be a sell-out.

I didn't see many empty seats. Maybe a few people who had tickets or Parramatta memberships just didn't show up due to an emergency or something.

isn't the official capacity at Leichhardt 20,000 these days - kinda like nightclubs having a maiximum number that they can let in.
I assume that is how many tickets they are allowed to sell and then we will just squeeze the nippers and others in the gaps and deal with any fallout later. there would likely be all sorts of insurance issues if something happened and the club let the ground fill to beyond capacity. makes you pine for the good ol' days

I reckon the capacity at Leichhardt and Campbelltown is around 21,000.

I applaud the club for givin juniors tickets, but they don't need to. Everyone knows that if the game is a sell-out they cant get in. Go and buy a ticket like everyone else.

Exactly. The club needs to make money. They should be thankful that they get into the other games for free.

Leichhardt can hold about 23K if everyone on the hill is sort of standing, but they never let those numbers in any more. They normally shut the gates by 20K.

Anything over 18K feels packed.

A can see another two page photo opportunity for the Monday papers ....a packed out Leichhardt oval hill on a sunny clear Sunday afternoon with heaps of Wests Tigers fans holding up bags of silver coins & wooden spoons with the famous scoreboard posting a final score of 30-16
