I wonder if we will always have it start to plateau out at this level with the Grand Stand seating at the grounds being limited.

I take the numbers on the NRL site with a grain of salt.
In 2010, Tigers had 3rd highest av. home crowds after Brisbane and Dogs.
'09, 4th best after Brsibane, Dogs, Titans.
We are consistently the 1st or 2nd best drawing Sydney club.
Other's can claim 17,000 - 20,000 members but there actual crowd numbers don't match ours.

Thats true, but it poses the question, why dont our fans want to become a member?
I'm sure the club would love those figures

I think it has alot to do with demographic Ink.

Both ecconomic in terms of outlay but also the high junior participation rate in our junior leagues would affect alot of parents buying ST's as you know. Penrith suffers from a very similar problem.

I feel we are one club who would benefit greatly from a draw completely determined before the season

I don't know the answer, Ink. I actually wonder if some clubs aren't counting feet rather than members!!!

Yeh good point, kids sports do interfere with attending NRL, jnr players get free passes so that too would inhibit some parents maybe, I guess the home ground situation is another factor, I know quite a few people that only attend games at the one ground, they may make an effort come september if we make it tho.

it has more to do with most of our fans being on the tight mortgage belt of the western suburbs with two young kids e.t.c it is not always easy to commit to a couple of hundred dollars for membership when they are on a tight ship as opposed to individual fees for games.having said that our supporters are the best and never forget our working class roots.

Although their are many of packages, the three ground thing dosnt help. For the people of South west Sydney its a big hike to get to both LO and the SFS, like wise its a big hike for the inner city folk to go out to Cambo four times a year. Also for most young families, they dont know what they are doing this weekend so to commit for a whole season is a big ask. For nutters like myself its the best three hours of the week and worth every cent

So how do Souths crack 17000 members yet can't pull all of them to a game?

Probably only half are ticketed members. Crowe is probably signing up all his Hollywood friends.

God knows. Probably includes ticket sales to Russell Crowe films.

Yeah, something doesn't smell right with that as it can't be non-ticketed members as the NRL only counts ticketed members

I would suggest this is the main reason; even though there are packages, if you know you are not likely to travel to Cambo (or the SFS) and have other commitments it just all becomes a bit too hard.

The nrl.com tally includes non-ticketed members.

Hmmm I thought as per last year that it only included ticketed members in its tally.

Latest tally for all clubs. Apart from North Queensland and maybe Melbourne I think membership will be up for every club individually.

Above 2010 levels now. Slowly increasing and hopefully a good jump with the battle of the west coming up.
