Your team for Foundation Cup Vs Roosters

Post by willow » Sun 20 Feb, 2011 12:59 am

Given that no injuries were sustained against the Eels, and Sheens will likely go with a smaller bench in terms of numbers, I'd be going with this team in the Foundation Cup:

1. McKinnon (Brown to be used in the second half)
2. Tuqiri
3. Ayshford
4. Lawrence
5. Brown (Latu to be used in second half, or Tagive)
6. Marshall
7. Lui
8. Gibbs (if fit, otherwise give Moors a chance to atone for his effort against the Eels)
9. Farah
10. Galloway
11. Dwyer
12. Fulton
13. Heighington

14. Woods
15. Daniela
16. Fifita
17. Moors (If Gibbs fit to start)
18. Latu/Tagive
19. J Schirnack

There's no way Moors should be in the line-up with his display last night.

1. Brown (Offered more than McKinnon). I do like the thought of Daniella there like others have suggested.
2. Tuqiri
3. Ayshford
4. Lawrence
5. Latu/Tagive/Koribete (not sure where he is? - but really want to see him play)
6. Marshall
7. Lui

11. Fulton
12. Dwyer
13. Heino

14. Fifita
15. Woods
16. MM
17. Daniella/ Moltz (If available)

Flanagan played last night, but left the field after 20 mins and had an ice pack on shoulder/neck area. Don't think he took any part in the second half.

1st half/2nd half

1.Brown/Daniela
2.Tagive
3.Ayshford
4.Daniela/Lawrence
5.Latu/Brown
6.Marshall/Lui
7.Lui/Miller

8.Gibbs/Woods
9.Farah/Farlow
10.Galloway/Fafita
11.Fulton/Akeripa
12.Dwyer/Murdoch/Davis
13.Heighington/Shirnack

others...

Meaney, Moors

I dont see the need to play Tuqiri as the other wing spot is wide open it would be good to give Latu, Brown and Tagive lots of game time to stake their claim.

Team 1/Team 2

1. Jake Mullaney/14. Wade McKinnon
2. Lote Tuqiri/15. Mitch Brown
3. Chris Lawrence
4. Blake Ayshford
5. Sam Latu/16. Ratu Tagive
6. Benji Marshall
7. Jacob Miller/17. Robert Lui
8. Keith Galloway/Aaron Woods
9. Robbie Farah
10. Bryce Gibbs/18. Andrew Fifita
11. Liam Fulton/19. Todd Payten
12. Ben Murdoch Masila/20. Gareth Ellis
13. Simon Dwyer/21. Chris Heighington

22. Matt Utai
23. Sean Meaney
24+. Whoever I've forgotten

Trade the players slashed on and off throughout the game but leave the centres, Benji and Robbie on there for at least the first 60. Whichever players gel the best with these four should be held in high preference for round one.

It would be nice to try a few things this is mine
1.tuqiri
2.daniella
3.moltzen
4.lawrence
5.brown
6.marshall
7.lui
8.gibbs
9.farah
10.galloway
11.ayshford
12.fulton
13.heighnington
14.ellis(if fit for a run)
15.moors
16.a.fafita
17.woods
18.tagive
19.mackinnon

I will cop a caning for ayshford in the 2nd row but i think he will be a natural with a bit of bulking up and i think he will be almost as big as brad thorn, and he has great leg strength to poke his head through and get an offload,(and it allows moltzen who will pass to his wingers to play centre) Its time to start grooming him as payten isnt getting any younger. To solve all fb issues lote would be the best, big strong, tackle buster.support play and that will allow daniella who i think has a bright future to play on the wing.So if all works out moltzen in the 13 every week and ayshford to play both forwards and backs.

Unless Ayshford has artificial help, he won't get close to Brad Thorn in size. He might be a kilo or two heavier than last year, but he's still very lean and I cannot see him playing anywhere other than in the centres this year. Plus Sheens has a plethora of backrowers at his disposal. Al Schirnack looks like a viable option in the backrow IMO, he looks a little trimmer and fitter than last year and might be handy off the bench if injuries strike.

I'd run with this (assuming that Moltzen is not returning until round 1.)

1. McKinnon
2. Tuqiri
3. Ayshford
4. Lawrence
5. Brown
6. Marshall
7. Lui
13. Heighington
12. Ellis
11. Fulton
10. Gibbs
9. Farah
8. Payten

14. Galloway
15. Fafita
16. Dwyer
17. Mudoch-Masila
18. Woods
19. J. Schirnack
20. Moors
21. Miller

In my opinion, we know what all the guys on the three quarter line can do, we should be looking to give some fringe forwards a run. I don't know if he ever trained with their FG squad, but it would be interesting to see how Miller goes against his old club.

I Think you will all find that with the loss in the Eels, The team will be closer to the one that will start in round 1.

Your reports state that the boys were rusty and very little cohesion. Thats OK for the first real trial I know.

For the Record

1. McKinnon
2. Tuqiri
3. Ayshford
4. Lawrence
5. Brown
6. Marshall
7. Lui
8. Gibbs
9. Farah
10. Galloway
11. Moors
12. Fulton
13. Heighington

14. Woods
15. Dwyer
16. A Fifita
17. ??Back?? + a few extras

Id be suprised to see so many youngsters this week as the team needs some game time together.
