Whether or not Humphreys "stuffed the cap up", the technique of signing players for long-term contracts, then changing your mind and giving them a gentle nudge out the door when you sign someone better, has killed player morale this year, and no amount of blaming Gibbs of Fifita will change the situation.
Couldn't agree more. And, some of you are over-reacting to an article that is just a beat-up. Fifita wouldn't have 'gone to the media', they would have come to him, talked him around until he says a few things that can be strung together, out of context, and the next thing you know you've got an article that has nothing to do with the truth.

Look at the word 'Discards' in the headline - it's inflammatory. Gibbs and Fifita aren't discards, they were encouraged to try their monetary value elsewhere and they both got offered (in F's case, a lot) more money than their WT contracts, so they took the money.

Fifita is an old-fashioned 'bump and run' player, he runs at players, not at gaps. The only other player in the NRL who does that is Anthony Watmough.
Cheering for the mighty Wests Tigers, all the way from France.

i think fifita and gibbs will finish well ahead in the pocket, we cant keep everyone, and IMO, we can cover Prop better than most spots.

It irks me everyon bagging Humphreys, i reckon he is doing a good job, Our highest profile most talented players, are mostly locked up for a long time, we have a good production line of youngsers coming through. we have a heap of sponsors and cash, we are packing the stands, what more do you want from the CEO

we cant sign new talent, keep all our youngster and not lose anyone, impossible

I don`t blame the club for letting them go as Gibbs refuses to run the ball hard and Fifita runs sideways far too often to ensure he`s worth $300,000 per season just yet, but I am concerned who we have to replace them?

Galloway and Woods will most likely be our starting props and I have plenty of confidence in Matt Groat giving us plenty of value off the bench, but we do need another prop as a regular bench player and another 3-4 who are capable of stepping in when there are injuries, who will they be?

IF AND when Adam Blair does sign with Wests Tigers, he might be wise to wait for Andrew Fifita to exit the building before he enters it.

On the day the pair met on the football field, in the same week Fifita was forced to leave the club, it was clear there was no love lost.

After a spicy game, with the even more spicy subplot that Blair is set to sign with the Tigers at the expense of Fifita and Bryce Gibbs, the Melbourne player accused Fifita of ''running across field a fair bit''.

Fifita's response wasn't as pointed but it was clear. ''All he kept on saying was, 'Run straight, run straight,''' Fifita said.

''I told him straight up, 'I'm not scared to.' So I did. I was wondering when he [Blair] was going to run it at me. He kept on offloading. I kept on getting in his head.''

Clearly, though, Fifita's own departure to Cronulla, confirmed in the days leading up to yesterday's match, was in his own head. Fifita had told a Sunday newspaper that ''to play this one bloke who's taken most of the boys' spots in the team … can't wait''.

After losing against Blair's side, Fifita said yesterday: ''It wasn't my choice to leave. I can't really help that. The option was the Sharks so I might as well take it. I'm not just going to sit there on my arse. What happens happens.''

Fifita was not happy at having to leave but also not exactly ecstatic about spending long periods of the match on the bench. Asked whether Blair was given some extra attention as a result of the speculation surrounding his signature, he said: ''Half and half. You know he's coming to the club … I just wanted to rip it up with my own game. With the time I got, I couldn't really do much.

''When you sit on the bench for that long, you just want to drown in tears. It made me angry and I just wanted to do as much as I could. It was a bit upsetting, but what can you do? Coach's call. The best option to grab the ball and try and do what I can do well.''

Prop Bryce Gibbs will also be at Cronulla next year, Fifita saying of him: ''He's just frustrated that the club's letting go of him. He's been loyal to the club for how many years. He went hard today. I'm really proud of him, what he did today. We just want to finish off the year strong for the Tigers.''

Blair played it mostly cool about the whole episode, which is taking on soap opera proportions, but couldn't resist a dig.

''I just went out there to try and do my job, and I felt that I did my job,'' he said. ''I didn't read the paper. But he was running across field a fair bit.''

Asked about his future, he said: ''At the moment everyone is tossing up all sorts of things but hopefully this week I will get it all sorted out.

''I am still in the process of talking to them and sorting stuff out.''
We are Still waiting patiently Adam just let us know when its suit you mate it has only dragged on for 2 months now
