Do ticks mean they play for free.... :?
I'm guessing the ticks mean TPA's so the Roosters have another 7 mill to spend

My opinion on the Roosters is there are a GREEDY organisation..this goes way past wanting to win .This type of behaviour does no one any good the code the NRL and the diminishing fan base that the league has to stop bleeding ,if the NRL think that this type of rortng is ok they are dreaming ....the game is dying on the vine and this just helps kill it off!

Well said, Snake! I wonder if the 150 people (I think it is something like this) working at NRL head-quarters will ever wake up to the fact that the game is slowly dying.
2017 Av. Crowd 15704 Per cent Inc/Dec -2.2

Since the big percentage increase in 2009, there has been a fall of 8.2% in the average crowd figure to 2017. The game is dying.

This idea is out of the blank but I think Cronk will play lock wherever he ends up.

Just like Bird will at the Broncos.

The lock position is in for a change.
Put the pipe down
Crack one at that.

All of these are way overs.

Fergusson is on peanuts as he's gold a whole bunch of stuff held over him by the likes of Politis et al.

Manu is a fringe winger, would be lucky to be on half of that.

Cordner I read somewhere is on the equivalent of 666k per year

Aubussion is on something like 250k - but he's in golden handshake and veteran territory

Taukeiaho and Lui 400k? Nahh.....

I mean don't get me wrong - they are cap rorters, but it's not THAT bad.
Yep I get "some" are overs. So let's take TWO Million off those 17 players. It just means the remaining 13 are playing for TWO million. Do ya see what I mean?
There are two kinds of people in the world - those that live in Balmain and those that wished they did.

Dunno mate, it's only a 4% drop if you compare 2017 to 2008 - selective comparisons?

Crowds are down in 2017 vs the past 10 years, but those average crowds are still all-time highs for rugby league in Australia. Actual all-time average crowds since 1957 is 13K.

I wrote a post about it a month ago, take a look, I put a graph and everything:viewtopic.php?f=2&t=29676&p=868046&hilit=crowds#p868046

The Roosters started Pearce's resigning just after he was still 'dogged' by the video tape. I'm sure they got a few concessions in there for supporting him through that.

They also managed to dump a few players mid season (SKD & Carter) which I'm sure they managed to save some cap on and front-load a few contracts. Unlike us who stick by our guys (Lovett)

Maybe they're just co-incidences, but they seem to often use dirt over players to advance their position.

I for one wouldn't want to sign for a club who seem to use mafia style tactics. Good luck Cooper & Ted.

The game is a joke and when the NRL crashes and burns and wonders why people are being turned off from the game they will have themselves to blame

NRL
How Sydney Roosters can afford to sign Cooper Cronk
Phil Rothfield, The Daily Telegraph
October 30, 2017 3:14pm

HERE is the proof the Sydney Roosters can afford Cooper Cronk without rorting the salary cap.

The estimated salaries of their top tier players comes in at around $9.59 million with the cap next year expected to be $9.4 million.

In recent years the Roosters have suffered an exodus of stars, including James Maloney, Michael Jennings, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and before that Sonny Bill Williams.

Next year they won’t have Aidan Guerra, Kane Evans, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Liam Knight, Paul Carter and Connor Watson on the payroll.

It’s why they can afford both James Tedesco and Cooper Cronk on $1 million deals. Cronk on Monday confirmed he would join the Roosters on a two-year deal.

CRONK FALLOUT: Clubs ready to swoop on Mitchell Pearce

Cooper Cronk has been heavily linked to the Sydney Roosters.
Ever since news broke that Cronk’s likely destination was Bondi Junction, outraged fans at rival clubs have gone ballistic.

But, in their defence, they have only one player in the Kangaroos squad — skipper Boyd Cordner.

Premiers Melbourne Storm have seven from their 2017 squad wearing the green and gold at the World Cup.

A lot of the players at the Roosters are on less money than you would think.

Latrell Mitchell is one of the best young players in the competition but he signed long term before he proved his worth.

Latrell Mitchell signed long term for the Roosters.
Blake Ferguson is on a reduced contract next year because of his off-field issues and the fact he is now regarded purely as a winger, not a fullback or centre.

The club was also $200,000 under the salary cap in 2017 which allowed them to “pre-pay” players some of their 2018 money to create more space in the cap.

There’s talk the Roosters will release halfback Jayden Nikorima if anyone has to go.

He’s played mostly for feeder club the Wyong Roos but is soaking up $350,000 of the salary cap. There is talk the Broncos want him back in Brisbane.

so many good players under $290K at the Roosters.Ryan Matterson $200,000, Daniel Tupou $220,000, Mitchell Aubusson $280,000, Isaac Liu $200,000, Zane Tetevano $120,000, Sio Siua Taukeiaho $150,000
,Joseph Manu $150,000, Nat Butcher $200,000, Victor Radley $120,000. this is the fishy part.

Hades
Matterson signing a 2 year extension for only $200k a season. Tupou signing a 4 year deal worth only $220k a season. Napa on only $550 k a season. Aubusson on $280k a season, that's my favourite. And Liu, and Taukieaho on $350k a season between them. Someone believes in the tooth fairy. Carter and Knight would both have been on minimum wage, and they're still contributing to the contracts of Copley and Hastings, so that puts a fair dent in that argument.

Those salaries may in fact be true, but it just proves there must be massive TPAs or Uncle Nick has dirt on a lot of people, to accept such low salaries.

Taukeiaho on $150K, please.

And for how long does Latrell happily sit on his supposed $350K when Tedesco is in his spot at 3x teh salary?

I wonder how that upgrade Politis mentioned in September is going now?

Latrell Mitchell and management to ask Nick Politis for upgraded deal
CHRISTIAN NICOLUSSI, The Daily Telegraph

NICK Politis will have to dig a little deeper into his pockets with Latrell Mitchell and his management expected to seek a pay increase at the end of the season.

Mitchell has emerged as the Sydney Roosters’ X factor, scoring the winning try against Brisbane in week one of the finals, and the youngster who will cause a huge threat out wide against North Queensland in Saturday night’s preliminary final at Allianz Stadium.

There has even been talk of Mitchell being a bolter in Mal Meninga’s Kangaroos’ World Cup team, which would only make it more difficult for the Roosters to deny Mitchell his upgrade request.

While fellow centres Jack Bird and Josh Dugan will collect north of $800,000 next season, The Daily Telegraph understands Mitchell will earn around $400,000 next season and $450,000 in 2019 when his Bondi deal expires.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/ ... 1ebc444a75

LATRELL MITCHELL signed a long term deal in 2015. I guess we will have to wait until Nov1 2018 to offer him fullback money.

The article lists 21 players with Wyong Roos being 750k. So 9 players in the top 30 @ 750k = about 84k per player. What is the minimum NRL contract under the new CBA?
If more than that the telegraph will need to adjust the current contracts down to again show how the roosters are under the cap.
Donald Trump should be tweeting about this fake news

Huge TPA's that's the joke with the salary "cap".
Maybe some day some of the guys on here that bagged out a points system might just see the inequalities between the rich clubs with rich backers and the poorer clubs.
