Lodge spent time in County Jail and was given back his passport with permission to leave the country by the courts.

All these scenario's are about the system/process, not the crime. If you feel there is an injustice of punishment between Packer & Lodge, the system is at fault, not Matt.
So a guy who has a history of beating people or threatening to beat people isn't to blame for bashing and scaring the crap of people in their own home.

How anyone can defend this guy and considers he should be allowed to play professional rugby league amazes me.
I dont mind people's position that suggests they feel he shouldnt be allowed to play professional rugby league because of his actions, but I'd expect them to feel the same about Russell Packer.

From an NRL perspective, once they allowed Packer back, Lodge was always going to be registered.
How can you compare them Watto? Packer has paid for his actions, shown remorse, been accountable and taken steps to turn his life around. Lodge has done none of this.

Not to mention comparing what they actually did - Packer savagely bashed a bloke over an argument about a cigarette - disgusting? Yes for sure! Lodge chased 2 women down the street with intent to kill, or at the least rape them, then savagely bashed a guy who came to their aid in his apartment building in front of his wife and kid. I'm sorry but there is a bit of a difference to these crimes, imo.

Stop believing american hype and hysteria....

Both committed drunken acts of physical abuse...

Both where sentenced by a judge for the crimes and served there penalty...

Both have 'said' they are sorry and taken steps to turn there lives around.

One plays for the Tigers in 2018 is the only difference!!!

This campaign against Lodge is disgraceful. There is no difference between the Matt Lodge incident and Russell Packer's. Both have committed horrendous crimes, both have faced punishment, and both have been given another chance by the NRL. If you are cheering for Packer next Saturday, you should also accept Matt Lodge back into the game of Rugby League.

I hope he rips in, behaves and has a great year!
"Campaign against Lodge"?! What is this " campaign"....that people are disgusted not only about what he did, but also that he basically got off scot-free?
What is your angle with your concern re: supposed injustices against this imbecile? Is he a close mate or relo of yours? Because that could be the only possible explanation that someone would be so cut up by the fact people aren't fawning over Lodge and rejoicing in his return to the NRL. Absolutely gobsmacked.
I sincerely hope his return is a spectacular failure. He is a piece of human garbage who hasn't redeemed himself one iota for his crime.

I suppose Im not emotional about the matter and can see this from a black & white perspective.

The bloke got charged, sentenced and served his punishment... As i stated earlier, if you have a problem with the outcome, your issue lies with the system not Matt.

If Lodge had any decency he would have accepted the $750K per season that the Knights offered and started to pay recompense to the victims of his crimes.
But no I want to say with uncle Wayne and win a comp, stuff the victims.

haha, no... I've sold everything up!

I think what he did was terrible, but dont see anything different to what we have seen in RL over the past 10 years.

Bird, Lui, Packer & Lodge did brutal acts of alcohol fuelled violence. None are acceptable, but have been accepted by the NRL over many years. Matt is entitled to the same pathway as those before him and detest the reporting on this subject by two key stakeholders of the game.

Even your panther mate Brad Thorn who's indiscretions didnt make the daily news got given the same latitude!

I have an issue with the system, yes that's right.
But my bigger issue is with the human waste such as Lodge who impact other people's lives, especially young children (that is unforgiveable) with their stupidness and arrogance. Lodge needed to serve some prison time and be forced into some uncomfortable, terrifying situtions with other sick, stupid individuals and he would of gotten a feel for what he put his victim's through.
Can only hope he does his ACL in his return to the NRL. That would be karma at it's most beautiful.

Lodge definitely wouldn't have a career in boxing if he gives up footy, those punches he threw were embarrassing. Luckily for him there is no punching-on between the big fellas these days in the NRL.

What are you talking about, it’s the Broncos.
Since he stayed with Brisbane how can you be really sure that his not being paid $750 00 at least in some capacity?

Better not. He’ll be in my Supercoach team. Has the potential to make decent cash.

Entirely different circumstances. Packer's was a one off incident not, like Lodge, a repeated history of beating people (particularly women). Packer also showed remorse, something Lodge has never done.

I think there's a massive difference between two blokes having a stoush late at night around the pubs, which involved a fist fight that went way too far. To lodges scenario of throwing out insane death threats, breaking and entering and attacking random people in their home. Including women and kids.

If Packer and Lodge had no ability they wouldnt have got a second chance at any club and would not fit in "the culture"
However all can be overlooked/ forgiven for someone who is percieved to be talented.
Until the NRL/ clubs prevent players with criminal offences from playing the game, regardless of talent, dont know how you can make allowances for one over the other
The defence of Packer is largely related to him wearing our colours- bet there are plenty of other supporters from other clubs who are not so understanding or forgiving.

Nothing to do with him wearing our colours as far as I'm concerned. I can just see the difference between the crimes committed and actions and attitudes of both players since then.
