No established coach worth their salt would take the Penrith job.
Jason Taylor is looking for a job
He would make a good puppet

Ok right field thought

Gould knows he has the cattle to win but they aren’t responding to grandpa griffin.

He also knows the cattle is about to be sold off - Cleary to us, Maloney retires at some point

Last chance - sack coach and give 2018 a red hot go!

Thoughts?
I agree.
Was thinking along those lines. Nothing fires a team up like the sacking of coach.

NC is going and he doesn't want Griffen anymore so sack him and fire the team up for a possible gf win.

Ivan hates Gus. Seriously why would he go back to the bloke who sacked him and has now booted his replacement? What benefit would there be to sacking Griffin before the season was over if this was the plan? Buckley's chance...

Excellent Comment.

Gould's tenure as GM at the Panthers started with a statement that the club would win the premiership within 5 years that was 8 years ago.

In the 8 years he has fired 3 coaches.

The pressure is not on whoever coaches now or in the future the pressure is now on Gould to deliver.

Like everybody and everything he to has an expiry date. In the not too distant future that might become obvious even to the Panthers present kowtowing board.

I think the new coach of Penrith will be.....

Billy Slater...

But seriously it wont be IC. The Cleary's will never admit it publicly but their opinion of Gus is not very high.
We will smash em 50+ get on.

If I was Ivan I would say "I will comeback to Penrith" to Gus then backflip after they sacked Griffin

Maybe Gould will try and poach Ivan so father and son will be together !
One hundred percent that this is Gus's master plan, please don't ask me to name source though. Keeping Ivan at the Tigers will foil Gus's master plan ! We must keep Ivan at Tigers at all costs and not let Gus stop having nightmares for sacking Ivan in the first place !!
Ivan is signed until end of 2020. He would have to break his contract as i don't think WT would release him. There would be an almighty stoush in court and i would imagine WT would argue that Gould and Penrith were up to their necks in Ivan breaking his contract and would sue accordingly.
The other option is more a long term view - they have already signed Ivan from 2021 and will offer Nathan a 5 yr deal from 2020. But that is totally left field and highly unlikely.
Will find out how they plan to do it and I shall post again later tonight when I do. To me Ivan is gold !!

When will the finger be pointed at Gould as the dud one? He's the problem, not the solution, IMO.

Gould just wants a coach who will coach the way he wants. He will have to be a yes man. Cameron Ciraldo might fit this position, as he is young and willing to learn. More than likely the coach for next year as well.

Why would Ivan relinquish total control.

To go back and be totally controlled.
