If we were in the market for a coach, and of course our coach has already said he is at Concord for two more years so I guess it’s only hypothetical, anyway I would take Barrett on the condition he brings Kelly and Marty with him!!!

It would take a brave man to walk out on an NRL coaching gig if he doesn’t have another lined up, they aren’t exactly easy to come by.
Especially a rookie coach. Walking out/ giving up doesnt really look good on the resume
No experienced coach will take the gig at Penrith with Gussy looking over the shoulder all the time. A rookie that Gus can heavily influence (control)is going to be a more believable scenario.

If Barret leaves Manly, next stop will be Penrith.
Gould did say he wanted the next coach to take Penrith to the next level and a Premiership. Not sure if Barrett would be the man for that, Cleary either for that matter. If he wants a Premiership inside of 2 years with the great roster they have, then the only available coach that could do that imo would be Bennett.

However, you are right in saying that an experienced, successful coach wouldn't want Gussy looking over their shoulder - imagine Bennett copping that! That relationship just wouldn't work, so that leaves Gould to take what's left - Barrett because he and Gus actually like each other and he will be happy to do whatever Gould wants. Or Cleary so Penrith can keep Nathan on their books for the future. Either way, neither of these guys will guarantee Premiership success.

Ok I’ve binned it!!

Just for the record I don’t like him either - just thought it might come up as a possible scenario

If Barrett goes to Penrith I hope he is a "Yes" man otherwise he will be in deep trouble with the "Boss".

Greg Alexander just said Barrett and Bennett wiil definitely not be coaching at Penrith, and at this point they are looking at no one except Ciraldo at least till the end of the year.
That could mean many things and no doubt there will be lots of opinions.

IC is pretty much the only coach with the experience and most importantly the results that can actually work with Gould a very rare and valuable breed indeed..
Gould will probably get him sooner rather than later with a little cash splashed our way.
McGuire is technically at least as good an option as IC....am sure he has so long as he learned his lessons from the bunnies
Gonna be a fun off season!

We all know Gus has always coached the Panthers.
The person he appoints as “coach “ is just a spokesperson.
We need mongrel ..

Cracker!!

The general mood here has lightened a bit recently; it's amazing what a few wins & being in contention at the pointy end of the season can do.
