NRL considering SCG for 2019 finals

NRL teams may play finals at the Sydney Swans’ SCG home base next season, according to a report by The Sydney Morning Herald.

With Allianz Stadium set to be revamped with world-class upgrades in 2019, it will leave a host of teams without a finals base, including the Roosters, Sharks and Sea Eagles.

And the SCG is being tipped as the solution, with the Roosters already locking in the venue for the majority of their home-and-away matches next season.

Should the Roosters secure a home final, it would only make sense to base them at the SCG, which may lead to scheduling conflicts with the AFL.

The Western Sydney Stadium and ANZ Stadium are both widely expected to be predominately used for finals, but the SCG’s prospects are reportedly being explored, which is set to host the 2020 grand final.

The NRL has already had scheduling issues this finals series due to the close proximity of where clubs finished on the ladder, with the majority of games set to occur in Sydney.

Penrith star James Maloney was not bothered by his side’s last-minute shift to ANZ Stadium where they will host the Warriors, a stadium the Panthers have won just four of their last 17 matches at.

“At the end of the day if you’re going to play in a grand final you’ve got to play at ANZ,” Maloney told The Sydney Morning Herald. “You’ve got to be comfortable at ANZ. At the end of the day if you’re going to play in a grand final you’ve got to play at ANZ. You can’t really worry about where you’re playing, you’ve got to be able to play anywhere.”

I guess peeps should understand what should come under the "west tigers" banner or the "general NRL" discussion banner.
