That's the worst Aussie side for a long, long time. I reckon Tonga would be better with a decent half.

Malcolm Knox: What has happened this week is a pity for the Tigers, a pity for Jason Taylor and a pity for Robbie Farah, who had achieved more than the Big Four put together but was somehow turned into collateral damage. (SMH 25-26 March, 2017)

Meninga loves an incumbent, as much as any coach ever. I agree, despite RCG having some injury recently, surely he gets the nod ahead of Woods. Meninga only picked Tedesco because Slater retired, otherwise Tedesco would still be waiting.

Or to put it another way, the Aussie selectors are telling us a bloke who was happily offloaded by his new club, due to form and cost, then played off the bench by his new club, should be selected for the Aussie side? Didn't even make Origin at all but suddenly his form warrants national selection?

I'm not a Woods hater, I like the guy actually, but that select is inconsistent with what I saw during the season.

I personally think Turbo is a far better footballer than Gagai, so not unhappy for him to get a centre nod. I don't think Gagai should actually be there at all, I thought he had a very ordinary season apart from a few good digs during Origin. Is JAC injured?

Ben Hunt proved during the finals that he is not a big-game player and shouldn't be there. Kalyn Ponga for sure if you want a quality injection off the bench.

Josh McGuire first-choice lock ahead of Frizell or Jake Turbo? They've not actually been watching the football.

Yeah, he misses nearly the whole season and doesnt do much in his few games he did actually play yet he is in the Test team? Madness. It just goes to show it is more about who you know instead of on-field performances.
McLean is more renowned for putting a bloke in a wheelchair than being a Test-standard prop.

I think it's called experience. This Australian team is very different to more recent years and there is a fair amount of inexperience in the side across all positions, barring Cordner, Gagai, Klemmer and Frizell. Woods also has been there, done that in the Australian team, on several occasions, and despite what many people believe he was playing very well with the Sharks at the back end of the season. He's coming off the bench, the same way he has been playing at the Sharks, I really can't see the problem.

As for New Zealand, they always look credibly good on paper, but unfortunately they rarely seem to be able to put it together, as a team, to be any threat to Australia. It might different this year facing a more inexperienced Aussie side, I guess we will see, but I still think Australia will win well.

On another note the Aussie girl who won man of the match or best player on the field, is better than any of the Wests Tigers forwards!

Manu does not look out of place at international level.
