Just wondering how you can be born here in Aus but be Lebanese?
Am i missing some sarcasm or ????
Well ink it is self explanatory
"Look, I shouldn't have said anything in some people's opinion, but I was born in Australia and for years and years viewed myself as 100% Australian. You get to a certain age (9 or 10 in my case) where people don't accept you as Australian. I still get asked once a week where I'm from, and I reply Sydney, but many people aren't satisfied by this, and need some type of definition to match to their stereotypes. When I tell them I'm Lebanese," - it was the Aussies who made him question his Australianness.

You are usually better than this.
Malcolm Knox: What has happened this week is a pity for the Tigers, a pity for Jason Taylor and a pity for Robbie Farah, who had achieved more than the Big Four put together but was somehow turned into collateral damage. (SMH 25-26 March, 2017)

Maybe you should ask some of the Federal politicians.
I am Australian, that's kind of my point.

Milne is a center and should be in the running for a starting spot due to his work during the world cup. Marsters was a fill in and has done his job. He is better suited to the backrow and now we have a specialist center we should use him properly.
Marsters lost weight in the off-season so I doubt he will move to the backrow.

Fonua was slow and indecisive in defense, as well as extremely slow lateral movent.

Milne has shown in this world cup that he is too good to play reserve grade and that he has the skillset to succeed in the NRL.

1. Tui
2. Nofoaluma
3. Marsters
4. Suli
5. Milne

14. Benji

You get to a certain age (9 or 10 in my case) where people don't accept you as Australian. I still get asked once a week where I'm from, and I reply Sydney, but many people aren't satisfied by this, and need some type of definition to match to their stereotypes. When I tell them I'm Lebanese, the shock is palpable, but I find that disgusting. My family are well educated, self sufficient and still part of both our communities, like the majority of migrants. However, many people (not just in Australia) rely on cognitive schema like the nonsense in this thread to make assumptions about things that challenge their ability to cope with difference.

Its not a personal issue with anyone, and there are many times I let this stuff go in my daily life and online. I actually prefer people who are outwardly opinionated and racist, to the people who think they are funny and use this to hide their true feelings, because then we all know where we stand and I don't have to explain this stuff.

Apologies for derailing the thread, I'm more than happy to leave it there and ignore future comments as best I can.
I love what is happening currently at the World Cup and I don't have an issue if Fifita still wants to play SOO or Taumalolo wanted to play for NZ

Anyway we can make International Rugby League more competitive across the board the better

Just took the F-I-L out for lunch and all he could talk about was Tonga and NZ game :) , great for the game as a whole

All this spreading of the talent has created good interest in which country will have the honour to be flogged by Australia in the final.

I think PNG can win, I hope they do.

Winner will have to play Tonga and will probably lose.

Australia vs Tonga final

Yeah but stolen one's count as double..
Well done guys, time to stop drinking and go to bed.
Unless you are characterising Kangaroos fans as car thiefs?

Good call, OMT.
I noticed that myself. Racism is alive and well. Hypocritical and two-faced.
You cant say a word about the gays, but step right up and slur any race you choose. Pathetic really . . . but far from surprising.
Being drunk, or even half pizzed is no excuse. All that does is remove the filters and expose the truth.
Weren't you the one making homophobic comments in the SSM thread?
Don't know about homophobic . . . but yes, I made comments about the gays in that thread. My opinion of them was pretty clear. I'm still allowed an opinion, yes ?
On the other hand, I was blasted by all and sundry for speaking of the gays. The same all and sundry that demonised me for daring to criticise the gays are mostly the same all and sundry that thinks it's fine to have a little racist "joke".
So in the left way of thinking . . . you are NOT allowed to say anything against the gays, but it's perfectly fine to generalise that all Lebanese people are car thieves. :brick:
And one of you wonderfully fair minded people even asked if I know the meaning of hypocrisy !!!!!!!
Byron Bay fan . . . you wrung your hands about the gays having to throw themselves off the cliffs in angst, and you were the 3rd in line to add his 2 bobs worth to this racist offering. Really ?

I really like this Irish team. They should be in the QFs instead of Lebanon.

What would have been wrong with 4 pools and two from each going through?

PNG will get beat by England, they make too many mistakes and the top teams will make them pay.
