Groat's fitness?

Post by cnx_tigers » Mon 26 Mar, 2012 8:54 pm

I don't want to kick the young fella while he's down, but he looks a LONG way from NRL fitness. He's a yard behind the pace just about all the time and constantly trying to catch his breath. He's getting beaten whenever guys run at him and step and arm grabbing a lot.

Really looks a level below the NRL fitness wise at the moment...........

Fit or not fit isnt first grade standard at the moment,no impact what so ever as ball runner and lost in defence.

I thought he looked alright but he doesn't have one half of footy in him. Sheens though simply killed us with 2 backs on the bench and someone like Groat as a starting prop.

Yep n sheens continues to let him play long minutes and the bench guys only get low minutes.

I actually feel for Groat. Surely the Coach can see its time for a spell in the lower grades for the youngster?

Absolutely. He's got the potential to be a gun....................in 2 or 3 years time.

Right now he needs to come off the bench for 30 mins a game and play a few full games in the lower grades.

Instead....................the coach cut our props and banked on Groat being a full time NRL prop all season.

Hopefully it doesn't destroy him as he looks completely out of his depth starting. Sam Burgess will murder him.

Fair call. He should be a long term project and played another year in the 20's. I just hope this isn't the undoing of him.

I have an idea, instead of putting wingers and extra backs on the bench, get a forward and rotate them appropriately with time, instead of leaving say, meaney on the bench the entire match or for the last ten minutes, ridiculous

When he actually takes a hit up - it is generally pretty effective.
