no7

Post by supercoach » Sun 29 Apr, 2012 7:54 pm

After going to the game and catching the replay I dont think we can beat a GOOD team with the present set up. Humble throws a nice ball, but their is no running game, theirs no kicking game and he just isnt steering his forwards around. Although it seems to me that Sheens has given Marshall that role.

I would either bite the bullet and give Moltzen back the role or say to young Miller the gigs yours for the rest of the season and we want you to run the show. If it was my call Miller would get the job. Iam not bagging Humble I just dont think the chemistry is working.

God knows what anyone sees in this guy as a halfback. He can tackle and looks a decent footballer and a goer.

However for mine no real vision, no kicking game, no incisive passes, no ability to create, no thought to overcalling Benji and Robbie. Just a toiler out there shovelling the ball on and tackling hard.

Why Miller got 1 shot over this guy Ill never know

Spot on, Humble is a solid, utility player at best. He is no way in any shape or form a first grade quality halfback.

Personally I would give Miller the job, there is nothing to lose.

For starters Humble has NO kicking game and that is what we desperately need, a quality third kicking option to take pressure off Marshall and Farah.

Miller for whatever reason is not rated by the people responsible for picking the team I think we can all see that.

I don't see what Humble offers that Miller doesnt.

Again, Miller had a great game in the 20s.

Either Sheens is plain stupid or there's some plan for Miller that we don't know. Humble is by no means a long term halfback, at our club, or any club. He's a utility. Miller IS a long term halfback.

Sheens loves to play games you have by any standard the first quality 1/2 since Prince and you don't give him a look in .Humble is a good player yes but at 1/2 don't think so.Promote Miller go with it and if it fails move him on and sign a specialist 1/2 this is what the team is lacking and we have one under our noses another Everingham probable.

Hmmm, I'm not sure that a guy who is trying to impress should take it upon himself to override the Team captain and the NZ Captain in one fell swoop. Sounds like a good way to get a one way ticket to that mysterious second dressing room for mine.
PS- Hypothetically, if we won today 36 blot would this banter be going on now?

I think Miller has pretty much been moved on with the signing of Anasta.

Our No 7 is not there to run the ball or control the game. He doesn't kick, he doesn't have an attacking passing game.....why? The reason is because this is how Sheens is coaching him to play. I don't have a problem with Humble. He seems reliable in attack and defence.

But it was as clear as day today that he has been trained to play just like Lui had. His service to the outside backs was great. Lovely long passes to Benji wide of the ruck so that Benj had room to be creative.

Whilst Benji and Robbie call the shots we will not have an attacking halfback. Just someone who passes nicely and quickly. That is why IMO we don't use Miller.

It is a shame, and I wonder whether at the end of Benji's career he will be looked on as the 5/8 who won us a premiership in 05, or the reason why a lot of other talented kids missed the boat at our club.

Exactly what I wanted to say, however, I could not have been more concise or eloquent with my wording.

Get the same feeling he is done and dusted if he wasn't he would be there now ...a shame if it happens, Miller has talent to burn and will play NRL only thing with another club..

Moltzen was doing nothing or instructed to do nothing when he was there too......its the Benji & Robbie show

We play our half as a mere link man or sometime dummy half...thats all

So let me get this right, Humble,Moltzen and Miller when given the seven role are playing to orders from Sheens to let Benji and Farah call the shots and they just catch, pass and tackle. If that is the case how come Lui, kicked and ran ball plus passed it (didnt tackle so well).
Anyone who has ever played the game will tell you a no7 has to be able to read the play and take on the line when he sniffs a chance.
Anyway with our present set up, we are a one trick pony and a good side will shut us down as easy as pie. My only hope is you have to learn to walk before you can run and their are better days for Humble just around the corner

The Benji - Robbie show is right. Sheensy just wants Humble to link and that's it.

IRONICALLY the only seasons we have looked good were 2005, 2010 and 2011..........all when a half back ran the show (Prince) or started to (Lui).

Lui over riding Benji and Robbie and demanding the ball was when we looked at our best.

Just unbelievable we've gone back to "let 6 and 9" do what they want :(

Great observation, I wonder if any of the other 15 coaches have worked that out too? Benji calls the shots and has done for the last few years. The problem is, his style of play does not lend itself to winning the game after 30 minutes and grinding it out.Enter, ANASTA - his experience and discipline will be what makes Benji apply his brilliance "when appropriate". Anasta WILL over ride the calls if he thinks they demonstrate poor judgement. I am hopeful that BA will turn some of the younger blokes into genuine tradesmen of the game.
