Benji's kicking game

Post by simonthetiger » Mon 14 Mar, 2011 10:03 pm

I give it one out of ten and imo was the difference between the two sides.

There kicking was pretty good, giving them field postion they didnt deserve.

Our kicks were abysmal.....time and again turning field position into nothing.

Dissapointed that a five out of ten kicking game would have won us that game.

And to rub salt into the wounds, we kicked after the 4th tackle about half of our sets. Great if it sets up good kicks but a joke when you produce what we did tonight - and with poor chase thrown in you have to wonder.

Farah only kicked once from memory; our most successful kicker last year - surely not 100% right tonight.

Exactly right We have been reading too much press about how good we look on paper . Farah should be first choice attacking kicker Benjis kicking either very good or very bad Lots of very bad tonight

Every year we seem to say the same things about our kicking game, or lack-thereof.

Looks like 2011 isn't going to be any different. Frustrating.

You will not beat any side who are on their game or somewhere near it if your kicking game is poor and our kicking game was poor. Lui was no better than Benji

n not only his kicking but his 5th tackle option in general. a couple of times we ran it when we should of kicked n another time benji looked as though he wanted to kick but was standing way too shallow so he had no choice but to throw it wide. n the bomb he put up didnt look threatening at all, goodwin caught it with ease. benji needs to torpedo it like hayne did against the warriors. those ones swirl all over the place and make it much harder to catch

Yeah I agree, the kicking game was the reason we lost that game - terrible. Just about every kick went dead or down the fullbacks throat.

I think I counted one good kick which from memory came in the first half from Lui.

To me the side looked underdone, as though the Bulldogs had played more games together (a terrible thing to say given how badly I think they will go this year).

As others have pointed out I think the tigers were guilty of reading their own press and probably scanned that Bulldogs team lis and thought "we've got this won".

Captain Robbie Farah shouldn't get off without blame.

Why was he not shouldering some of the burden.

Not all Benji's fault, execution may have been a little off but At least he was trying something all night

I think Benji needs to put his kiwi jumper on under his tigers one. He seems to kick fairly well when wearing that 1.

I would of thought targeting Barber with high ball would of been talked about Obviously not or team did not listen to coach . I think later Sheens is too good a coach to produce those tactics

I agree, kicking clearly the difference, and kicking before the last all night, very unlike us, actually the whole game plan looked like we were trying to play like St George, thast is not our strength...
Robbie clearly not himself in attack last night, maybe injured??

Agreed. The Fox commentators questioned Robbie's lack of kicking as well. They thought it was a head scratcher
