Storm have struggled against us in the last few outings. I don't think they like teams that play unconventional - hopefully I van has a few tricks up his sleeve.
Unfortunately we won't win the penalty count this week because Cammy is refereeing.

Very average side the Storms are trotting out. Almost embarrassing. If we take out Billy they will have to play a prop at fullback. We've got this.
The bookmakers are practically giving away money. If the Tigers win by 20 it about 60 to 1.

Ivan "Billy Beane from Moneyball" Cleary!

The only way to beat that side is 100% completion, great kicking and pay the refs!

Think our markers need to be on their game against Storm. Lots of pressure from marker and slow the play down as good as Smith will. Give them no time.
Hound the ref after every little dirty play Smith gets away with. Even hound him before kick off.

People focus way too much on Smith’s actions. I’d be surprised if opposing teams even give it a second thought when preparing for the Storm.
Smith is a game winner and has probably won more games then anyone before him. His actions play a big part in that.
And Smash him..

Everyone who gets tackled by Smith should give him an elbow to the back of the head
He got away with it so why can't we
We can use his very case as our defence in we need to front the judiciary

Yes our ISP team would give them a run for their money
Smith , Munster , Croft , 2 x Bromwich's , Kaufusi, Finucane , Chambers , Vunivali' and JAC looked real tired
(Using Jedi Mind Power on Bellyache ) I should rest all the above players v the WT's

Interesting thing about the Storm, as others have noted, how they really do not play as well against sides like us, something about our lack of reliance on pure go-forward and the unpredictable nature of our attack.
Storm love and destroy structured / big sides who amble up the middle, don't throw the footy around.
Since 2007 we've played Melbourne 16 times, won only 6 (62.5% win rate for Melbourne) which isn't great, but bearing in mind Melbourne won 67% of their games in that period, better than average.
But the real take-home for me is in that period we have always been quite competitive:
2pt loss, 18 pt win, 12 pt loss, 10 pt win, 2 pt loss, 12 pt win, 8 pt loss, 4 pt win, 20 pt loss, 14 pt loss, 18 pt win, 22 pt loss, 18 pt win, 1 pt loss, 9 pt loss, 8 pt loss.
So 2 losses by 20 points but 8 losses by 14 pts or less. Then, surprisingly, 3/6 wins were by 18 points.
Also since 2001 we've only been more than 12 points behind at half-time twice (29 matches), one was the 64-0 drubbin in 2001 and the other in 2016 when we were down 26-0 but rallied to lose 29-20.
Last interesting fact - we've lead Melbourne at HT on 12 occasions (out of 29) and only lost 3 of those (2 of those in the last 3 matches).

Very good side and class all over.
They will looking at putting Slater over for a try.
I trust Ivan has a plan in mind and ab lib footy is the way to go.

Like any team the Storm struggle to defend offloads and broken play - which by nature is unpredictable. They are very structured in D so it is difficult to catch them out unless you absolutely role through their middle and have them back peddling with fast ptb's, and that's a tough assignment for 80 mins.
One thing to watch is the marker defence - JAC and Vunivali will have a go through that area so we need to tighten that up as it has often been a problem for the Tiges.
In the past I have noticed that they can get frustrated in games when they are being suffocated in attack and this leads to mistakes. Hopefully the fact that it's early in the season might help us again here.
