When you have Reynolds on the books long term, have Marshall playing well, have a young back up in Gamble and another reliable option in Lolohea you dont go out and get another 5/8

I blame Super Coach. People dont think of the reality of these things.

Only way Cleary is interested in Austin is as a utility/centre or as a straight fullback.
Its an opinion!

He could play 1 or 4 for us especially if Cleary has coached him previously. A genuine NRL player of this standard should always be welcomed more so when he resurrected his career at WTs. If true, let's hope Ricky pays some of his contract.

We got rid of a half who thinks he is the most important player in the team(moses) why on earth would we sign another ego maniac.
No thanks as others have said he is a "one trick pony"

Blake Austin would be a great signing good goal kicker replaces Kev at left centre.
We have to sign (or upgrade) at least one plater to the top 30 soon.
Is that a fruit or seafood player?

Sorry Auto correct chucks up some randoms.

However I think Ivan is playing money ball with mid priced NRL players that have the attitude and drive he wants. With A lot of these players he seems to have good inside knowledge on what makes them tick. It’s a good time to approach Austin as his been dropped and still has more to offer at NRL level for a few years to come.
We many have a similar situation of Rochow Benji and Thompson making the starting side. While Milne, McQueen, Grant, Sue in Reggie’s and Reynolds, Liddle, Lolohea on the sidelines.
Maybe Austin or Reynolds may spend time in ISP but however plays 1sts will be playing the way Ivan wants and at 100%. I’m sure if Austin joins us he is aware of this.
in Ivan we distrust

Lets look at the facts.

has played 100 NRL games

Just turned 27

Can goal kick

Former junior sprinter and school boy representative

Has played under Cleary before

My opinion he can fill two weakness, I see him as a running centre and our goal kicker.

At Canberra scores a try on average every second match.

Appears to be a good bloke and very competitive

For the right price (ie Canberra footing some of his wages) Yes from me.

I think he would be an upgrade on Tui at fullback. Thats about the only positive i have to say on him joining our squad
That’s only because he might squeeze out your boy Gamble

This is just ridiculous. Yes i like Gamble, doesnt stop me from having an opinion on other issues that cross over.

Let me say it again.

For the moment i think Reynolds is our 5/8.

Marshall and Tui are the next go to options.

Gamble is a super talent but i see him as utility at this early stage of his career, he will most likely have to wait until mid season to get a chance.

People read what they want to read sometimes.
What I’ve read are endless posts trying to push this kid into first grade. Not sure why you think it’s ridiculous- I too can post my opinion. You have an opinion on Gamble. I think you’ve overstated that opinion. As was once famously quoted: it is what it is.

He was absolutely grilled about Potter in his last year here and stood much taller than the Big 4, Farah, just about anybody actually.

He’s got character and would add to our depth as a utility type player.
One of my sources is Pascoe

I was wondering how long after Austin was dropped that we'd see a thread on here. Answer is about 3 minutes.

It's ridiculous because although I have a strong opinion of Gamble ive also been measured when it comes to his chances of selection.

Back on topic Austin won't be bought by Ceary to play 5/8 it's that simple.
Its an opinion!

Can we just buy a specialist centre....
Wests Tigers don't need a Coach.. The playing group has taken over..

I don't doubt his spirit, I'll always remember that last game at Canberra when Potter was coach and it seemed most of the team was tanking except for Austin who had a red-hot crack.

And while we already have a back up #6 with a 'show and go' in Gamble, he might do the trick as a centre... so at the right price he'd be a good acquisition.

Yes a specialist centre would be great ..but at some stage a quality kicker is going to have to be employed! One position will have to take a hit as a kicker has to move in some where simple as that .

He needs to stick it out at the Raiders.

Ricky Stuart will be doing the drive of shame up the Federal Highway before Canberra has it's first frost of the year.

Glad you can self evaluate with such humility.

Also - so sorry I took you off topic. Thanks for doing the job of the mods and pointing out the error of my ways.

On topic - you state quite emphatically that Austin will not be signed. To be so strong with your thoughts surely you must have some evidence. What evidence do you have?
