In the end result, for anything to move forward, the club has to make a call on the future of Brooks. If he stays we don't need Nathan or any other halfback, however, if Brooks is considered beyond improvement to a high standard half, and I think he has not done enough to show consistent high quality, a call should be made this year and a replacement sought for 2019. Maybe Nathan would be interested in an early release or it will be another half. Where Ivan Cleary would stand in these decisions who knows?

This might be the topic that hits 1000 pages before their next contracts are signed.

My point is, you’re having a dig at Brooks, comparing him to a kid whose played 2 first grade games, and laughing about him showing more in those two games than Brooks has in 99. What you seem to be missing though is how good Brooks looked in his debut, and how it drew comparisons to Andrew Johns. Now, did he live up to those expectations? Obviously not. But so far, Luai is no better than Brooks was in that game at the SCG. And as he proved, it can easily go south. So given the player you are mocking is a prime example of that, I’d wait a season before throwing Luai in his face.

Great depth at Penrith. No better way for a halfback to develop with a bunch of forwards that go forward. But loved watching Luai pick his moments to run the ball.. exciting young player.
No room for two halfbacks - but nice position for the Panthers to be in if Cleary does decide to move on.

Exactly.

Whats more this kid has been brought along really slowly by a club who hasnt put a lot of pressure on him and expected anything from him.

This kid might be great but its apples and oranges.

Throw him into the Eeels team and call him the next Sterlo and see how he goes.
Its an opinion!
