NRL: Sydney Roosters reportedly 'very keen' on signing Brisbane Broncos starlet Jamayne Isaako

Post by Tiger_Fan18 » Tue 10 Jul, 2018 10:33 am

The Sydney Roosters are reportedly “very keen” on signing rising star Jamayne Isaako from the Brisbane Broncos ahead of next season.

Speaking on 100% Footy, Neil Breen revealed the bombshell as the Roosters move to secure the blossoming winger.

“The roosters are very, very keen on Jamayne Isaako,” Breen said.

“He’s a goal kicking winger, he does the business.”

Isaako has enjoyed a stellar break-out season for the Broncos bagging a host of trys, but it’s his goal-kicking that has his coach Wayne Bennett impressed.

"I see him training every time we have a day off," Bennett told NRL.com.

"He comes in and kicks goals and that is what practice does. It makes you better.

"A few of the goals he kicked [against Canberra] were from the sideline. They were crucial goals and magnificent kicks."

The news comes as Isaako reaffirmed his commitment to the Broncos only days ago.

"I am still in communication with (Broncos recruitment chief) Peter Nolan and the club to extend my contract here. Nothing is confirmed at the moment but everything is looking pretty good for the future," Isaako told NRL.com.

"I started my career here and I'd like to finish my career here. The Broncs have looked after me pretty well and given me the opportunity I have today…so I'd definitely love to stay here."

I'm sure every club would be "very keen"
Hes an up and coming gun.
And he can kick goals,
Future superstar.

Will stay at Broncos I think.

God it just never stops with the Roosters does it? I wonder if they will ever be truly happy with the squad they assemble or will they forever be chasing one marquee player after another til the end of time? I honestly hope they never win another premiership from this day on.

The Roosters are like Donald Trump, and Roosters haters are like liberals. While most likely corrupt, like liberals with Trump, most Roosters supporters will complain about anything they do. And the trouble with that is when you complain about little things, it makes the big things that are worth complaining about matter less, because the people complainig will complain regardless.

In this case, they are obviously looking for a replacement for Ferguson who signed with Parra last week. If you want to complain about them signing a young gun another club developed, knock yourselves out. Just leave it at that, because in regards to rorting (which im not saying they aren't good at, just not in this case) this is a non stiry. Focus on the big things. Complaing about little things like this just makes the Roosters haters look like complainers.

They have signed Crighton for next year on a deal souths claim was near enough 1 miliion a year, upgraded Cordner to near the 1 million a year, throw in Cronk and Teddy and there is a stack of money tied up in 4 players.
Fergo, easts lead us to believe signed a reduced $250 to $280k a year deal this year due to disciplinary reasons, and that won't get Isaako, they are deadest flaunting it in the NRL's face and the league bury their head in the sand.

They have 4.2m available under the cap next year with Ferguson & Aubusson moved on

I didn't hear about Aubo being moved on, but I do get your point, and it makes me sick, gee I hope they don't win the comp

You'd have to be prepared to pay fullback dollars for him and take that risk

Roosters have a surplus of backrowers that should be ripe for the picking - Cordner, Crichton, Matterson, Radley and Butcher. All of those guys are starting quality, but 5 into 3 doesn’t work
Year of last finals appearance:
2017 - Storm, Roosters, Broncos, Eels, Sharks, Sea Eagles, Panthers, Cowboys
2016 - Raiders, Bulldogs, Titans
2015 - Rabbitohs, Dragons
2013 - Knights
2011 - Tigers, Warriors

That is ridiculous depth
Cordner and Radley on fresh 4+ year deals
Crichton 3 from next year
Butcher still has 2 more full seasons
Matterson has 1 more year

Matterson would be my pick. Was easily their best before he got injured this year. Was a concussion injury but had wrist surgery while he was out. Back in the 21 this week.
