He does not have the natural talent to be a great halfback.

Not enough between the ears.

Is that why he plays 5/8?

Harsh reality is it is a dud signing.

He is busted and was never a difference maker in the halves for mine.

Gutsy player but played his best footy when he was younger. Game has not evolved.
OK can we save this comment and generally speaking this thread, and in a few years if Reynolds only plays 10 games a season for us then you are vindicated, and if he plays most games of the remaining contract will you reconsider that calling a 29 y.o. footballer "busted" in the first year of their contract is a bit over the top.

Before this season, Reynolds has not played less than 17 games in any season since his debut. It's not as if he has a long history of injuries and breakdowns.
I like to try and call things before they happen. Its an opinion, an opinion which has lately proved right this season. He has a lot of miles on the clock and his style of game has not evolved since he was young.

Last year he suffered a Hammy, a Calf and an Ankle.

This year a Hammy and a Reoccurring shoulder.

At 29 year of age these sorts of injuries rarely never occur again.

My opinion going into this season was his injuries were a real worry. for a player that relies on bursts of speed and stepping.

And I have seen nothing to see that to change my mind. Whats he managed 4 games in 17 an possible no more?

Thats terrible value and its not his fault.

If it's about his shoulder, then he could be easily retired off medically, as I'm pretty sure he only picked up the injury whilst playing with us. Back in the first game he played for us he came on for the last 30 minutes but only lasted 20 of those 30 minutes, as he received a small hairline fracture to his upper left arm. It looked like when he dived to score last weekend that he landed badly on that left upper arm region which could have completely fractured the arm this time.

He has to want to retire first (or be incapable of playing on)

Retire him after his first year for us. I don't think he will retire.

I can see a few more on here that don't have much between the ears either.

So Benji retires this year and now some are hoping Reynolds gets carted off to the footy morgue. So who plays 5/8? Gamble? No thanks! Drinkwater? Gone! Lolohere? Maybe. My hope is a recovered shoulder injury from Reynolds and three years of injury free footy!

Do NRL clubs give player medicals before they sign a player? NBA, NFL, soccer all do it, not sure if NRL does.

Off course they do but as always it comes down to deciding if player X is worth the risk of signing him despite his injuries and age

A couple of things following Josh's appearance on Fox last night.

Firstly, openly said that he would be quite happy to go and play in the UK. When pressed, he clarified that while he is still contracted to the Tigers, if things didn't go well he'd happily head off early...

And then followed up about his shoulder saying that it isn't where it needs to be, and it would be a 'big week' for him. Sounded to me like surgery is on the cards. Maybe if we lose, he'll go straight under the knife?

The try he scored in his last game was great and showed what he is capable of. I'd like to see him get healthy and play out his contract with us.
