building pressure
building pressure
for the first time in a long time, we didn't try to score off every tackle, we completed sets, we kicked smart, we turned them around, and we built pressure
it wasn't a 'typical wests tigers' performance, but geez i was impressed.
after seeing that, Benji may just be a 7. the way he controlled that game with his kicking game was very impressive and very mature.
fantastic effort, fantastic 2nd half. go the tigers

I'm surprised the warriors didnt put more pressure on Marshalls kicks, every man and his dog knew who was kicking yet they left him alone all night
What was great to see was the amount pf pressure on both Johnson and Maloney, particularly by Blair.
Both warriors kickers were hurried along all game, and they never looked comfortable kicking on the last.

The warriors had a far superior kicking game to us throughout the match. A couple of repeat sets aside, and the grubber for Lote's try, the general kicking frmo us was appaling. Benji didn't kick for touch once in the game!! Constantly putting us on the back foot with the warriors starting their sets on the 30m line while we were trying to come off our line. Benji would have to be the worst bomb kicker in the league! Might explain why he went 2 seasons without trying to do one..

Pretty sure Marshall was hit to the ground atleast twice whilst trying to kick and had a bomb charged down too in an attacking position too.. He was also forced to kick to the in goal off the side of his foot whilst running from mannering on the last..
They pressured him well, he was just excellent

Perhaps he didn't want to kick for touch... The Warriors were a bigger team so maybe forcing them to keep in play was a tactic rather than letting them walk back to a scrum.Balmain Boy wrote:The warriors had a far superior kicking game to us throughout the match. This must be a joke. I thought Benji's kicking game won us the game.Balmain Boy wrote:The warriors had a far superior kicking game to us throughout the match. Maloney made the mistake of shoving Blair over early in the game. He had eyes for Maloney every time he went for the kick after that, absolutely barrelled him at one point.underdog wrote:What was great to see was the amount pf pressure on both Johnson and Maloney, particularly by Blair.

Marshall's kicking game was very good and a few of his kicks found quite alot of grass and caught them in goal, although as some have said previously he really wasn't tested.
The completion rate impressed me. For a slippery, cold night I expected more errors.
Don't try to tell me awesome power can corrupt a person, you haven't enough to know what it's like; you're only angry because you wish you were in my position, you nod your head because you know that I'm right.

I thought that was Bunjis best ever game for kicking...... Imo was crucial to us winning the game!

Kicked well - apart from his bombs which didn't seem to get close to their goal line/ingoal.
Was good to see us actually use some pressure instead of go for the silly plays every time.
