He was our best forward around 07-08. Was a bit unlucky not to play Origin during that period imo.

No more young Talent. We picked the "Young" Brooks, Moses and Tedesco and they struggled to understand their roles without strong mentors.

James Graham for $400,000 I would say Yes. He brings a fair bit of experience and pride to the sides he plays. 500k, Hmm I would have to think about it, I would not pay more then 500K because of his injuries.

The sharks are playing with 36, 34 and 32 year old forwards and doing well with it. I would not rule people out because they are of that age. In fact I don't think anyone would object that we should have kept Chris H.
Well I object - two ball Heino, one for him and one for the rest of the team ....no thanks, was quite happy that he left us when he did, bad luck it wasn't earlier.
Yeh he was no good, played over 300 games, and over 100 at cronulla since he left, and won a premiership making it 2 now, what a dud.
You have your opinion 851 - that is cool.

Mine is that when he played for us he was a dud. I like players that pass the ball - he hardly ever did that for us - couldn't tell you how many tries he bombed because he didn't - has improved slightly at the Tiger sharks. Still would not take him back for nothing, even if he had played 600 games. That is my opinion - we do not have to agree and you obviously don't.
Though I do suspect he was often playing to coaches orders. Players like Heighno & Bronson Harrison suddenly showed some skills when they joined new clubs. Heighington was often aimed wearing markers out.

What an absolute joke, they are getting the 29.5% of revenue they wanted, average wage of well over $300k, which all equates to a 52% pay rise, they are just greedy bastards :x

They will bleed the game dry. With ratings on the slide, game attendance on the slide and general interest on the slide maybe the next TV deal will not be anywhere near what is needed to fund the players demands.

I guess they see what the cricketers did and think they can do the same. Sadly they are not interested in grass roots just their own back pockets

The players are starting to lose me. They honestly think they are better than what they are. The sport is already heavily subsidised via TV deals and this may go down over time. It's a small sport in two Australian states. I mean come on guys.

Dying at the grassroots level and players squeezing it for all its worth recipe for disaster.

If the players want a fixed share of revenue, are they willing to take a pay cut when the next TV deal comes down? Me thinks not. I'm getting pretty sick of the RLPA.
Year of last finals appearance:

2017 - Eels, Sea Eagles, Cowboys
2016 - Raiders, Bulldogs, Titans

I skimmed through an article about that and the RLPA rejection was not just about $$$$ they mentioned education, insurance and stuff like that not where they want it to be.

lol it's not about the money. These players, a lot of their income isn't just from the football clubs.

Especially cricketers, they werent trying to milk a couples of millions from CA, they can get all the $$$ they want from IPL.

I am a close mate with one of the players and his main issue is the support offerred at the grassroot levels. Up until RM level, there is no professional help in terms of physios, EPs, trainers etc. Compare that to soccer where there are qualified personnel right from the bottom grades of NPL.
My Round 1 Team 2018

1. lolo 2. noffa 3. suli 4. milne 5. fonua
6. reynolds 7. brooks
8. packer 9. ET 10. Twal
11. McQuen 12. Lawrence 13. Eiso
14. Matulino 15. McIllwrick 16. Sue 17. Aloiai
18. Marsters 19. Benji 20. Grant 21. K Naiqama
Next: Liddle, MCK, Felise, MWZ, Thompson, Rochow, Gamble

Well I guess we'll see. If it's truly not about the money, than the salary cap for next year will be $9.4M. If the rlpa continue to fight for more, than money is clearly an issue for the players.

i dont have much knowledge about what the 9.4M entails but sometimes that's including "benefits". so e.g. 9.4 would've included 1.2M of additional personnel, insurance, education schemes etc where the clubs probably can't compromise on player wages because they need to show the money to attract players but can cut the "benefits" to lower running costs.

i dont have much knowledge regarding this matter, just hazarding a guess here.

That will be their reality, because the games revenue will go down not up in the short term at least.
So be careful what you ask for, you may just get it, kind of like Woodsy

at the end of the day the players will vote for whatever their agent tells them to vote for.
& the agents are wholly and solely in it for the $$
On the bus or under it!
