Danielas defence
Re: Danielas defence
Daniela to me has been a great addition to our side. He tackles well above his weight. We need to give him better quality ball in attack to allow him to use his footwork and pace. Maybe he could be a half back for a couple of weeks as he can pass the ball and would allow Marshall and Lawrence to play their correct positions. Still would like to see Moors on the bench ahead of Fitzslippery
Living the dream and praying for another premiership

I thought his defence was excellent in the second half down the Western Stand side.
I thought he was a turnstyle in years gone by, I'm glad i've been proven wrong.
It was Fifita rushing out of the line to push someone actually Ron.
We had them for man on man defence and he came out to shove someone (not tackle) who didn't get the ball and opened the gap that they were good enough to take

Its funny, on the NRL site, at one stage we had missed 15 tackles and he had missed 5 of them, watching the game his defence was great, sometimes stats can be misleading

which one are we talking about? im talking about the break leading up to where gordon dropped it which was in the 10th minute....fifita wasnt on then
I am talking about the line break just after Gibbs got penalised for the late tackle on Prince. Just after the re-start.
Talking about two different ones it seems Ron

Me too. Pound for pound he's proving to be one of the strongest around. Wish he was taller, he'd be unbelievable

Not sometimes, most of the times. Stats dont mean jack, should always make opinions from watching the game, not reading stats.

I must of missed something, I thought Daniela made quite a few defensive errors early on. I can think of three occasions were he either made a one on one missed or raced up out of the line.
I'll have to have another look.

it was probably benji...they both were defending on the same side and do look similar on TV...i know it was benji who missed the tackle when rogers made that break when gordon dropped it...but at first watch i thought it was danielaChunk wrote:I must of missed something, I thought Daniela made quite a few defensive errors early on. I remembe rearlier in the year when he first cracked a starting spot I posed the question "can Daniella tackle?"
The question was out of frustration as no one in the side was defending well at that time.
The answers that came back would have been pretty much 100% no he can not. Some people were very abusive about how bad his defense was.
I dont know if he was that bad before or people were just jumping on a bandwagon but I thought he went well that game. He has improved every game since to the point where he now must start in the centers for mine. I've enjoyed his work for a little while now and from lasts nights game I think its pretty clear that he has very strong defense.
He's actually one of only a couple of guys in our side that can produce a hit and consistantly tries to hurt the opposition with clean defense. For the size of him thats remarkable.

Daniella has been a great. When a new player comes to a club you look at what he can offer the side. He is elusive with the ball and his defence is great.

you seem to be going out of your way to have a dig at fifita lately.smeghead wrote:It was Fifita rushing out of the line to push someone actually Ron.

and your recollection of this event is way off.
fifita was 3 in from the sideline because daniela was at marker and fifita had benji and brown outside him.
bird was fifitas man and he played the ball at the line to catch out our markers.
daniela was the player in position to make the play and came up short with a tackle everyone slides off numerous times a season.
