Mitch has been tearing it up for the Tigers in the 2nd half of the season, Amazing what back to back games can do for ones confidence .

I was happy we picked him up for 2010. I watched a lot of sharks games last year and I thought that he was always having a go even when they were being flogged.

He will cement a spot in the 17 I'm sure in years to come.

Final note, on the tele last night he looked taller and a bit bigger that Chris Lawrence - Can someone confirm.

If Fit McKinnon will be in the #1. Brown won't be dropped, but instead, relegated to the bench i'd imagine.

He is capable and adequate but in no way a long term option. He does not run hard or tackle hard. He is not mistake prone like beau and fitzhenry, but he hasn't really been tested yet either.

What makes a good fullback?

- solid defense
- confidence under the high ball
- chimes into the attacking line
- hole running
- strong kick returns

brown has some of these characteristics. But he is not now and will never be a great fullback. Is he in the same class as slater, hayne or matt bowen? Not even close....

Mckinnon is the much better option - a specialist fullback which is why sheens recruited him. He is a great hole runner and hard to tackle. Unfortunately, he is injured and i would not rush him back into the squad for a semi or grand final.

Good luck to brown....let's hope he isn't shown up in the next two games.

stupidest post regarding brown ive ever seen. :brick: :brick:

What a difference the odd injury makes...

Similar size, different build. I spoke to Mitch down at Miranda after the Cowboys game at Leichhardt and he's about 6'2, pretty broad shouldered but not so big in the legs, Lawrence is a similar height but more powerful in the legs.

You are on drugs or not watching the same game as everyone else.

Brown ALWAYS hits the line hard and his kick returns are great.

McKinnon is crocked, there is no way he should come back in.

I wouldn't go as far but close....

Brown has been excellent, he's fast becoming one of my favourites as well! And I wouldn't let McKinnon walk back into the team ahead of him.

The only 2 notable things I think McKinnin has on Brown is:
Aggression - Not that I think you need this to be a great player, but Brown did seen to placid early on. I think this is changing every week, just the look on his face when he told Farah he'd be taking the last drop out against the Roosters told be he's assertive enough!
Support - Again this was something that concerned me earlier on that I think McKinnon had all over Brown, but these last 2 games have proven me wrong again.

All in all I think its Brown's spot to lose in 2011...

I wasn't sure Brown was the player to fill in for injuries but he has proved the opposite lately and I feel confident now when he is in the team, well done to him taking his opportunity and standing up.

A reliable first grader doing a adequate job for us at the moment...certainly not a superstar.

Really Brown is not a natural fullback but he is more than reliable and has been well above our expectations for 2010. Most of you were bemoaning his signing last year, now look at him. He doesn't set the world on fire but he has done the job for us and is not afraid to take a hit up. He's a big outside back who i think can fill the void on the bench as our utility for next season as he covers 1-5 and can even be used as a back rower due to his size.

Good on ya Brownie!!

Question - wasn't McKinnon only contracted until the end of this year? Will they resign him next year if they have Moltzen and Brown?

He got a contract for 2 more years or was it 1 year? But he is definitely contracted for next year.
