Gotta laugh at some reactions here.
When Penrith are signing him it’s “how bad are we, we can’t even keep our own talent”
When we sign him it’s “re-signed for 2 years? We got played”
Anyways I’m glad he is staying. Onwards & upwards CT!
I’m the one who said we got played and i stick by that comment. Thompson was never going to Penrith. The way people go on about him on here you’d think he was the next GI ( without a speedboat ). He is a handy backup who can cover a couple of positions - should he be our No 1 FB - no way but he is because we have no one else. Should he be the first guy picked on the wing - nope - but we have no one else. I have no problem with him signing for another 2 years if the price was right - i will have a major problem if he is consistently in first grade in 2 years time.
Fair enough DP & I respect your opinion. My point is we’re damned if we do, damned if we don’t. If he earns his spot for the next two years then good on him. We could do a lot worse than a bloke who gives 100% every week.

Perfect chance to try some positional changes
13 Maguire c/c
17 Ronnie Palmer
Put the toad down mate !
Happy has got you absolutely buying into his hippy Queensland ways… silly duff️
@Geo I’m not saying shop them all off, what I am saying is that finally maybe WT will have to make hard decisions and look to cull part of the herd of potential that we have waited upon and plodders down to a realistic level
Still only missed 8 tackles across 13 games. Twal has missed 10 (but in fairness he has also made almost 200 more tackles…). They’re a solid combination in the middle but I think we probably need to break them up to balance out our performances over 80 minutes. Worth a try…

Well here we are in Townsville and watched the game on TV.
Before getting up me, we are here for my youngest grandson’s birthday and christening. My son is married into a staunch Cowboys family and they all had tickets to the game and he wore his Tigers gear.
We had offered to baby sit so he could go.
The Tigers function was on Thursday night but after driving 7 hours we had to attend a family dinner at Brothers leagues club that night.
But today is my day with everyone meeting near the Strand for his birthday party and I’ll be there wearing my 2019 members polo and the biggest smile on my face. I’ll get all the flak that the refs were on our side blah, blah, blah but I’ll just grin even more and tell them ‘welcome to my world’ Cowgirls!
It’s a great day in the morning.
Enjoy the bragging rights.

@BalmainJnr what’s enough is enough? What’s else is he gonna possibly do, we have gone through coach after coach, no difference. Easy to point your finger at the coach, but we have an established coach who has the resume to prove he’s a winner. It’s simply the players. We don’t have the players to make the finals. I’m aware that you all know that because we have been complaining about the squad we have for years now.
We need one marquee signing to set the ball rolling
Remember when Souths were a basket case then they signed Inglis …
Won a Comp and been competing well ever since ( except there last 2 games)
But you know what I mean !
Pretty sure they latched onto a couple of genuine multi millionaires before that that had a thing or two to do with the whole turn around in their fortunes. I wish our wealthy ex sponsor would throw his loose change our way a little more. He could make all the difference. It baffles me why he doesn’t open the wallet right up. Of course I’m not dismissing his contributions over the years with sponsorship.
The only way Triguboff would open his wallet would be if sheens were back as they were mates .

@DieHarder right, I’m sure the geniuses out there like Ivan Cleary Garth Brennan, Brad Arthur and Dean Pay would all have us in the top 4. All this blaming Maguire needs to stop. He is only a small part of the problem.
Couldn’t put it any better but as one of his most staunch defenders there needs to be a visible change in attitude and/or SERIOUS consequences for non-performance. Not just being dropped, I’m all for Madge getting his own roster by rd 1 2020 - if not now, he’s clearly being diligent from my point of view! Not showing his cards either, why should he?

@avocadoontoast not sure why you’re seeking an argumentative line of enquiry but I do not claim to have those answers just knw that Madge is much more respected than Ivan. If ivan trcked you and had all the time in the world over the course of about 3 years to royally screw us worse than Sheens did then you and, of course I can surely have faith in the coach… that’s not to mention our already aging cattle’s a year older. Go figure we aren’t 9th?
Sure thing chicken wing if you don’t like Madge - but as a good, patient supporter and most of all morally accepting of what others are trying to do, will follow this train until it derails or docks at a station.
Better than a bloody bus. Have a great start to your week, sounds like you need it
All aboard the spoon express …
Next stop Townsville ! I
@voice_of_reason said in Maguire addresses signing rumours:
Can anyone say with certainty Madge had anything to do with the publicity regarding the DWZ signing? It’s far more likely (DMZ’s) manager pushed this into the media for his client to get as many interested parties as possible. We should also remember Penrith publicly announced he was free to explore other options.
If my recollection is correct, Madge tried to brush it off when questioned on it.
Well he didn’t brush it off real well
