LIVE GAME Trial 1 v Manly

Live Game Discussion
What's with the narrative that Laurie suddenly doesn't try hard enough on the field? Seemingly ever since that photo of him in a panthers jersey it's started coming up....

Tries his guts out every single week, smallest bloke on the field and plays tougher than almost everyone we've got. He's one of our best prospects!

People are forgetting it was his first full year of first grade because he's already playing like a proper first grader

It’s the cool thing to bash..

The kid is very Hodgo like with his ticker..

Play of the year getting out of the in goal..how soon it’s forgotten..

I don’t have any doubts about his ticker, and he did look solid. I just think the forum overrated him last year. Jmo.

How much footy has the guy had in the last 12 months? Fundamental errors I agree but some slack can be given in this first hit out surely.

Some have said Dillon in 30mins offered more than Laurie did all year which is a dumb statement.

Dillon gets alot of slack given he hasn't played with the big boys before but he isn't NRL ready and isn't in the same ball park to Laurie at the moment. That could very well change over time & hope he becomes one of the rare kids that lives up to their skill & promise within the NRL level.

People are building him up, but we need to keep it real as well. This kid needs time.

100% agree.

yeh seems a bit weird. He was in our top 3 players last year I thought.

He's had 1 year in NRL, he's our first choice fullback. Let's support him and move on.

Looking at the trial, there was a big disparity in the top players of our team compared to theirs. They seemed to be playing to win the comp, we are playing to avoid being beaten.

We are just waiting for someone to do something in attack. In defence, we are just sitting back, waiting for them to come to us. From juniors to top players, they all looked fitter and stronger without even trying.

Have no doubt, we will be in bottom 2-3 teams this year. I really hope Sheens knows what he's doing with our lower grades because we are going to rely on them a lot next few years. Not many top line players will be wanting to join Tigers once Madge is fired too.

Laurie barely dropped a bomb last year. Dillon had one bomb that he couldn't catch on the full.

Dillon showed enough apart from that to persist with, but he's a long way behind Laurie at this stage.

I think what most of us should remember is this was a trial for some of the kids to get a go and see how far they have developed over the preseason...some show potential and others will need more time, thats why there was some experience out there in the first half and in the second half the depth got a go...dont read to much into that game, next week will be an important one as most of the top 17 will get a fair bit of game time and the result will give us an indication on how far we are at this time of the preseason...
Be patient guys tis but the begining of the war of teams to see who stands at the end...

Let's remember folks Sheens knew about the mess that we're in and said that we are building for 2023 and beyond,
The 2022 Seasons door is about to be opened, let's go in there supporting our team knowing that everything is just going to be fine in 2023.
So how do you feel about the 2022 season?

Class players win games. Wests tigers are desperately short of star players.

Why is everything going to be “just fine in 23”?
Unless there is huge improvement this year, we will struggle next as well.
Better recruitment for one. Im sure it won’t be smooth sailing, but we look like we’re building a stronger squad by attracting established stars. One of which will just about be in his prime by the time he gets here.

To be honest sheens replaced scott prince with john morris...the next cooper cronk apparrently. Lets be honest mr 30% is not the coaching guru he is made out to be. Solve all our problems? Sheens was the problem when sacked...

I like Madge and hope he has great success with our club.
But I'd think players would be more reluctant to come here if Madge is here more so than if he wasn't. He gets a pretty bad rap in the media which players would take notice of IMO.

Sheens didn't have a choice when it came to Scott Prince, he did the dirty on the club by stringing it along and then pissing off out the back door not long before season 2007 if memory serves correct. It was a low act from him and tarnished his legacy at WT IMO.

That won’t automatically make everything just fine.
The team needs to improve now.
Papa won’t make bugger all difference if our incumbents can’t defend, have limited attacking skills and the clubs depth is sub par.
This squad must improve enough to play finals this year.

This place is deadset crazy. Talking up the side all summer, suddenly one trial loss and wrists are being slit left and right, and not even 2023 is looking any good.
