what ERA did u support THE CLUB

Were you shattered after 2010
Don't get me started on this game. Was still trying to get over the rort of 1978 PF against Manly and then this rort.

I watch the 78 Wests game over and over on YouTube in case the result changes by some freak of justice but it always stays the same.

And then we have Jeremy Smith's knees in 2010 amongst other things.

‘88.

Elias, Pearce, Jack, Roach, Sironen 🔥

Never forgotten the devastation of the 1989 Grand Final and losing two in a row. That team deserved a premiership.

Have tried to forget the execrable Alan Jones era and the ‘90s generally. I basically stopped following the game entirely for a number of years.
That was a terribly dark time.

Alan Jones ruined the club and there are plenty of conspiracy theories that suggest he was brought in to do just that.

Ivan not too different.

I was born in 1991 and grew up a Balmain Tigers fan (my father is a Tigers tragic). I’ve supported the Wests Tigers since 2000 and have been going to games at Leichhardt Oval my entire life.

Apart from the 2010-2011 games which broke my heart the one that really hurt was the last game of the 2019 against the Sharks. It was a game we could have won and I was devastated we didn’t make the finals.

Sadly, there's too many for me to recall with a heavy heart.
Apart from the Sharkies loss costing us a semi, what about last year at Leichhardt - the game for Tommy!
That was a doozie!

I was at the 62 and 63 grand finals supporting Wests on my Dads shoulders in the rain. Went to the 1969 GF and have supported Balmain ever since including this current mob of Wests Tigers,

I think I started Balmain around 1966 , with Proven, Bolton,Barnes and my favorite player was Kevin Yoe Yee, then followed players like Tutty, Garry Leo who I later worked with and when we were firing again a player by the name of Kevin Hardwick always gave me pleasure to watch because of his size and tenacity at such a small weight for a forward

I grew up in Mudgee where the (then) Group 14 town team wore Balmain colours. So ever since I was a young kid playing under 4 stone 7 pounds (lol) I followed the Tigers.

In 1969 in my last primary school year I had bets with classmates and teachers backing Balmain. They thought it was easy money.

The same year my best mate and I ran a proper book on the Melbourne Cup. Even the teachers were betting with us. I think we held about $10 and only had one losing result - Rain Lover!

Yeah, I helped run similar gambling racquets early HS years and also found teachers some of our best customers.

Great way to learn risk v reward.

We slso ran a very profitable "illicit " magazine " side business with a very regular clientele.

Yeah a piece of me died back in September of 1978.
Another bit kicked the bucket in late 1999.

... of the remaining bits still alive, my sense of humour remains and really enjoys the hapless Wests Tigers.
They’re a bloody hilarious bunch.

First game was Ellery Hanleys first game at LO for Balmain in 1988
I have had the same seats at LO since 1989 as a 10 year old
Was a member of Balmain tigers fc during merger remember the night well, the call came through Magpies had voted for merger and John chalk stood up urging members to vote yes then Laurie stood up and pleaded no. Thankfully we took the merger
Took up Wests Tigers membership at inception and ever since, 2005 outstanding

I was at that meeting as well Jedi

I don’t think we realise how lucky we are sometimes. NRL could have easily wanted less teams and we could have both been lost along with Norths. As I’ve gotten older and am old enough to remember the Bears I’ve realised what a travesty it was that they were treated the way they were. We became a JV, Souths fought their way back in, and Manly ate the Bears while the NRL looked the other way.

That is the narrative, and the way most people remember it, but its not exactly true.

Norths actually went broke and into liquidation prior to the criteria being applied through their own negligence and poor management. Norths would not have survived in any form under any circumstances the following season anyway. Manly merging with them was part charity, mostly wanting the $10M incentive payment.

My old man started supporting the Magpies when he moved to Australia and saw the face slapping story on 60 Minutes. No doubt this would have come as a surprise to him, moving from a country where rugby league was unheard of.

We moved out to Campbelltown in 1990 and I joined him as a supporter after some of the first grade visited my school and I got a few autographs and a poster.

I jumped on board after the merger and haven't looked back.
