Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I didn’t say a $1.2million centre lol
No but the signing was a huge statement for the Goldie. It was the first time an inform player chose to join a lower profile team than the Broncos in south east Queensland. I’m not surprised they almost made the 8 that year.

They did make the 8 since. So it ultimately worked along with the tino signing etc. you could argue the overpayment for a pretty lazy player wasn’t ideal though. Can’t see them going up to top 4 without some luck.

Yes. I actually think us signing Papali’i on half the salary for a much more involved player with far less fan fare will work out the better of the two.

Our mate Braith didn't seem happy last night with the Storm's proposal that Munster take a pay cut. If Dolphins sign Ponga - Munster isn't going to have that many options left!!

I live in hope

Braith will be happy if Munster gets his share of Gatorade.

Tumeth and O'Kane are really good prospects. Kautoga is another excellent prospect from the very strong Cronulla juniors. Let's hope our development system is up to the task of getting the into the NRL.
Kautoga is a weapon. O'Kane, Tumeth and Matamua all have raps on them.

That's the extent of the Flegg second rower talent as far as I'm aware for now. I guess you could add Guyan to the mix, but he has tended to play more lock of late. Hopefully 1 or 2 of them make the transition up to firsts in 23/24.

For what it's worth, Garner is a must resigning for '23 at least imo. We're losing our 2 starting second rowers and he has given a good account of himself so far this year. He's a decent role-player. He would make the Top 30 of at least half the NRL clubs.

It'll bite em sooner or later. Paying overs for those types of players always catches you eventually.

A redemption story is always good. The club should look at a knob like Anasta and see an opportunity. Wine him, dine him, show him the club has changed. Buy him a pallet of gatorade and elastoplast. Name the change rooms at the CoE after him.

You get a guy like that, who has openly bagged us, to say "I was really impressed with the tigers management", and you start to change the conversation.

Instead we talk about deadlines, ultimatums, having the higher moral ground etc.... and we lose.

We won't land a Munster for any money until we grow up.

We have Luke Brooks and Doueihi at 6 do we really need another 6.

By growing up do you mean a powerhouse club that makes the top 4 every year?

I dont think a manager wants to hang out with the cellar dwellers at a fancy restaurant. By sucking up to him it just further exaggerates the power dynamic.

Managers are in it for no1 and no1 only. Money and power. They want the best players to think they’ll send them to the best clubs AND the best money.

You forget Munster is one of the better fullbacks in the game, Lost a grand final at Fullback, Has openly stated he prefers fullback.
Hence the talk of him to Newcastle to replace Ponga....
He'd be a godsend to us at the back...
Correct, you part the playing group to put him in and backfill the rest around that.

However, I think it's irrelevant for him. Cameron Munster doesn't sign with the Wests Tigers.

Just watching a replay of the Panthers touch up of the Mounties.
Gee the Panthers have a plethora of talent throughout the whole club.
I swear I'm watching an NRL game.

I love how they all laughed at Gus's 5 year plan that turned into a 7 year plan or whatever...

What they've built there will last for the next 20 years... Cleary's there for the next 10 - the off shoot from that alone will see them in good stead for the next 2 generations of kids coming through.
