What's people's opinion on madden now after 2 wins .when douehi comes back do u think he will ask for a release now our halves have clicked a bit .brooks service at dummy half looked good .but the 3 halves seem to b having turns there late on game

Idk tbh.

Cronk and Co say you don't mess with a working half pairing which I agree with.

Don't think he's a hooker, and priority should be to fill the hooking rotation if the 9s cannot go the 80.

Unless he plays the Peachey 13 role if madge continues to not trust Peachey

Think it makes more sense to carry Peachey due to versatility

Lucy, Kelma (unfortunately) with Garner, Liddle, Tamou, Mikaele, Roberts, Kei, Simpkins and from some reports Gildard could also be looking to go back home.
Paps and Api to offset that to some degree but that’s quite a gap to fill.
I would add Talau, Peach and AJ to that lot depending on their performance when available this season.
Contracts don’t mean much nowadays so looking at players off contract lists has little meaning. Lots of horse trading between now and 2023 season.
Will be keen to watch in house progress of our juniors to see if another Rua emerges. There is talent there and some of this season poor lower grades performances should not be taken as a guide that there is not.
Im not sure who our new recruits will be but hopefully they should and will be upgrades on what’s leaving.
Good player Recruitment is a difficult science to master and very few get it right. Best recruiting clubs like the Panthers, Roosters and the Storm succeed because they have a good core of quality supplemented with either good junior development or smart low cost but well motivated player pick ups.
We can only hope that we can establish that core so that we can do the same.

I would resign Madden, and have Doueihi in the centres.

If another club is interested it will only be for depth. Keep him on but wouldn’t upgrade him.

I would extend him and play him in reserve grade to continue his progression always good to have a backup half

Wins create competition for spots makes players lift .writing was on the wall when Madge made changes after our fifth loss

I would offer him an extension for 2 years. He needs to realise he would be in know better position to land a starting spot in any other club & has great opportunity to be the backup half to Hastings and continue to learn off the likes of Benji, Kimmorley, Hastings, Brooks. He is only 22 & I can see him being a slow burner that improves each season.

Madden to me looks a little like Luke Keary. He isn't at that level yet though. I'd keep him but not pay top dollar. I think he could develop into a decent first grader over the next couple of years. I'm not sure he is ready to be starting 7 at NRL level just yet.

We will need to upgrade Hastings and we need to figure out where Doueihi and Brooks slot in.

Some tough decisions need to be made.
 
I would love to see the club and NRL look at a loan system with the English Super League. Imagine how good it would be for Madden to spend a season running a team over there, while we take a young forward under our wings and show them how tough and how hard you have to work to play at the top level. I think it could be a great way of fast tracking young play makers. It's just so hard for young halves coming into the NRL. Super league is a great stepping stone
 
Madden publicly mentioned he wants to be the long term 7. Now he is not only second to Brooks at 7 he is third to Hastings. Personally I think we are seeing the impact of having an experienced 7 on the field and we also saw the burden of Madden being first reciever in the 3 previous games. I’d keep him on ice as our back up 6. He currently plays that role when Brooks goes into hooker and in the background he can learn the subtleties of the two positions off Hastings and prepare him long term as a 7.
In the meantime when he is fit I would play Doueihi as our back up halfback instead of Madden (pending fitness) as I think he could do a similar job in directing the team in position. Hopefully our first choice stay fit overwise. And in that case Doueihi plays centre in our strongest side.

Brooks and Hastings are a fantastic pair. You keep them both. Brooks goes on about how he wants to be at the club. Douehi goes to the centres and can fill in the halves when required. I think Starford should be the other centre, he's shown he belongs in the backline and Ken M and Nofa are the wingers. Surely the club has money atm to retain who it likes.
