Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If we were at full strength all year, slowly building team cohesion, we wouldn't need too many signings.
Of course lack of depth is a major concern so in that regard we do need new recruits as we are experiencing in that area right now.
It's next year that we will be in trouble if we dont snag a few more quality players.
All I'm saying is we have a team that's competitive but we can't keep them on the field.
A side note to this is the team with the best roster will win more often than not. We need marquee players but even they won't help us we can't keep all the other solid players on the park.

No good marking off 1 game. I have made my assessment over the term of Brooks tenure.
Brooks was Dally M 7 one year, consistently been one of our best players every year, and now Hastings and Brooks have come to fruition, playing well and you want to part them. To be honest I have seen better halfs in the past in our lower grades than Madden, both Louie and Martin were both better. Madden can wait his time, he is not ready yet, and we also have Cameroux coming through now.

um...theres probably another out there somewhere..?
Disinterested...disloyal...over-rated..poor communicator...constantly out of position in defence...unreliable under the high ball....
But yeah..nah..he aint the solution for WTs
Uncle Wayne can have him tomorrow
We dont have great alternatives atm..but we need better in this key position
We must be discussing a different Laurie. He is one of our safest players under the high ball except for a couple of games when returning from injury. He is also very important to our pedestrian attack due to a chronic lack of pace in the backline.

Take out Laurie’s shocker against the Warriors where I think he lost a contact lense, he’s been pretty good and we’re missing him right now.

Unless we’ve got another Tedesco or Paps coming through we need to hang onto him. If we end up with Dykes for example, it gives us depth and it both players and potentially could move to 6 weeks if needed.

We let him than he can be one of the best players in the comp than we try to buy him again than fail and nrl jurnos laugh at tigers saying it’s another one they let slip through their fingers do you see the pattern here?
He won't be one of the best though.

Serviceable. Make the 8 probably. But a top 4 team? Don't think so. He's the best available though so will have to resign.

Great players don't need to have excuses put up.

If the Dykes rumours are correct I would sign him up asap and keep Laurie waiting. No need to panic resigning him, his size is a weakness. Garner is no loss, reserve grade plodder, Aitken is way better in both 2nd row and centre positions.

Payne Haas is an interesting one.

Hugely talented. has size, played 68 NRL games and only 22 years old. He fills a position we need filling. Also played SOO and for Australia.

Has had off field issues in 2019, 2021 and 2022 which does cause a concern giving the club wants to attract players to bring a positive culture.

Haas was born in Sydney and raised in Newcastle so a move to Sydney is not unheard of.

Given forwards lay the platform to win important games and to have a great forward pack Haas could be a welcome inclusion and WT seem to have money to play with.

We need to land a marquee player to attract others to club so I would be all for his signing but understand we will be against a lot of other clubs as well and may have to play overs for his services.

Besides Koroisau who is 29 the pack are all young and could be the cornerstone of the team for next 5 to 10 years.

Ofahengaue (26)
Blore (21)
Papalii (23)
Utoikamanu (21)
Koroisau (29)
Haas (22)

Musgrove (26)
Twal (25)
Simpkin (20)
Seyfarth (23)

If we could sign one or two of Bird, Aiken, Hopgood (22), Hudson Young (23) that would compliment the pack.

Hopefully Dias, Pole, O'Kane, Saukuru and Tumeth can come through in the next couple of seasons.

well another week has passed and nothing positive on signings
I cant believe we are as slow as we are at strengthening our team
we have
Kel , Lucy , Garner Leaving
Roberts , most likely not resigned ( injuries )
Big Tom , maybe Dolphins , Then
Liddle , Madden , may move on due to positions available .
coming in confirmed , Papi and Appi
min 7 out. 2 in , Tigers need to start getting pen to paper or we will again be buying rejects not quality .
looking at what we have been apparently looking at we need to secure some one quick
2 from this lot Bird , Nikora , Aitken ,
then raid Penrith reserves and Canberra First grade
