Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I know yas like the guy... but what if i told you... we're going to win more games with Adam in the halves instead ?

You still going to back him?
No, it does not sound believable. Doueihi is a running 5/8, not a creative one. Many of his try assists came from offloads near the line, not from putting players into gaps. Hastings and Doueihi are a bad match.

Where there is smoke, there is fire.

Its funny you guys who love the political thread also love Brooks.

It's like Brooks is your prime minister and you've believed his lies for so long that you got no choice but to stay loyal.
You have decided Brooks is bad and you don't see anything else. It is observation bias and we all have it to some extent. Stating your opinion on a forum does not make it true, no matter how many thousand times you say the same thing.

Jackson also lost his hooker and other support half Brooks had how many years with a hooker and half next to him
Benji was creative but "old" Benji cost far more points than he earned with poor defence and giving away momentum. We have not have creative 5/8's or fullbacks recently.

I agree with @BAGNF05 sentiments.
Both Hastings and Brooks looked very similar in that last 30mins.
Both have been trying to direct the team and create on the back of it without anyone worthwhile to capitalise on the efforts.
The difference I feel between the two is not that Hastings makes players play better, it’s that he keeps them involved.
He tells them your taking this run or decoy run for me or to stay alive if I look to shift back.
Brooks would play out the game plan last year whilst expecting, Liddle, forwards, backs etc all to remember what they practiced at training.
That lack of connection in communication was where he let us down. You would often see him barking orders but it wasn’t in the sense of marshalling the guys around the paddock the way Hastings does. It seemed more when he wanted to get ready to set up a play.
The game plan with Hastings seems pretty clear, put a forward into and over the advantage line, capitalise off an offload then put the next one through until the half breaks become full breaks. I really think he plays like a roming ball playing lock with a kicking game more so than a halfback but maybe I’m just not used to seeing a halfback play the full width of the field since probably before the NRL era when inside centres linked up as 2nd five eights.
Last year Brooks and Madge attempted the full width style and I for one am glad as it got him out of his edge and out of his shell and really brought a competitor out in him.
He wouldn’t pass as much up the field as Hastings does but would touch it probably just as much in the attacking zone.
Overall it just seems the personality differences in the two obviously suit one for the lead role more than the other.

What thread am I on?

There are quite a few better halves than Brooks, what I am saying is your spine has to be balanced. Someone has to play first receiver and take control on the last. Someone has to distribute in the middle, and you need at least one player that can create opportunities when they get some space, have vision and put people into gaps with good passes. We have not had balance for years, we have bought the best players we could and it has been difficult to see the overall plan like you can with the better teams.
