Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The forwards started the year strong without being world beaters. Maybe if there was some stability around the joint instead of constant speculation about mid year reviews they might have kept their heads in the game. The decision makers at the club havnt got a clue about anything except protecting their own arses

A big part of this I think is our forwards aren’t winning their battles which always hampers playmakers when they have to play off the back foot, behind slow rucks etc
Agree, and this comes from speed of the play the ball, coupled with the hooker's ability to get his forward flat and up and over the advantage line. All things that can be improved and will have tremendous flow on effects.

TIGERS COUP

The Wests Tigers have signed NSW Waratahs and Randwick rugby centre Tristan Reilly. He is a 23-year-old from Kempsey who had been earmarked as a future Wallaby. This is a handy signing for whoever gets the Wests Tigers coaching job.”

Anyone see this kid play ?

Triston Reilly (born 14 January 1999) is a professional rugby union player.[1] He represents Australia in rugby sevens. Born in a small country town of[2] Kempsey, New South Wales but resides in South West Rocks and plays for Randwick Rugby at club level.[3] He debuted for Australia in April 2018,[4] as of December 2018, he currently has 4 caps.
Triston Reilly exploded on to the rugby scene, making his debut just one year out of the prestigious rugby nursery of St Josephs College, Hunters Hill. The 19 year old made a great impression on Australian Sevens coach Tim Walsh in his second world series cap in London,[5] scoring 3 tries in just 2 games, before getting injured for the remaining games. In 2017, Reilly played for the Australian youth rugby sevens team who finished third in the World youth all schools tournament which was played New Zealand,[6] where he scored 5 tries.

And asking the government for money, that’s the plan apparently.

Being a realist & understanding that we will be focusing on developing players from within, our external recruits will comprise the following ...

For 2023
  • Front Row that has leadership, experience, defensive line speed, high tackle efficiency & post contact metres - 2 year contract to help the development of the likes of Stefano, Pole, Fione, Maanamai (assuming Tamou departs this season)
JORDAN McLEAN (uncontracted) or DAVID KLEMMER or ROYCE HUNT

  • Back Row that provides backup to 1st choice pair Paapali & Blore, solid & experienced 1st grader with good defence - 2 year contract to not hold up that future elevation into top 30 of O'Kane, Matamua, Tumeth, Kautoga, Saukuru etc
RAYMOND FAITALA-MARINER, CURTIS SIRONEN, JOE STIMSON, CHRIS LEWIS, MATT EISENHUTH

  • Fullback/Five-Eighth that provides backup to Laurie & halves and potentially could have X-factor to supercede Laurie & Brooks.
KADE DYKES

I will no doubt get shot down by some for my 2nd Row targets but I strongly believe in Blore & want to do everything to retain our bevy of young backrowers coming through.

Then for 2024 I want to go hard for Spencer Leniu (to replace Zane Musgrove).

I don't mind your thoughts except McLean.

What do you mean?
Lee has some secret plans to unlock the South West but it will require government funding, same as the CoE. These goons have blown over $100 million in NRL grants and can’t attract one marquee player, what makes them think they can do anything.

The provision of services/infrastructure - transport, schools, hospitals, emergency services, playing fields, libraries and affordable housing are challenges for all levels of Govt in growth areas of Sydney, never mind a football club.

The building of a 2nd COE at the UWS is a masterstroke and govt funding is appropriate having regard to the paucity of these facilities in the South West and demand for these facilities. This confirms the Board's strategic approach to the long term future of the SW and WTs. I don't believe there would be too many supporters who would not agree with this approach.

Criticism of the plan is a wash and repeat of the Board appointing Sheens to deal with football matters on behalf of the Board. The Board listens, acts and then gets criticised for it.

Hey Board, attract a decent NRL roster, act on that one!

Yeh, the constant white anting of the coach didn’t help the players focus on the game. Anyway, in the wash up Robbie got a promotion and Madge was given $800k and shown the door. It was a messy 9 months.
