To put the dogs decision into some perspective. Brent Sherwin was absolutely flying in the years of 2003-2004. He was the controller of the side not too dissimilar to adam Reynolds of the Rabbitohs today.
Not signing Thurston and resigning Sherwin would be like the Rabbitohs resigning Reynolds and not having the money to sign Walker the following year, the only difference between the two scenarios is the Rabbitohs unlike the dogs know exactly what they are getting out of their current players as they are both in their prime.
For the dogs it would of been risking one proven very good halfback for an a relative unknown.
Funny how it’s easy to look back on something and lament when you know what the outcome ended up being.

There may have been other off field factors involved in the decision to let JT go as well.

No I know that. Though it’s never been proven and it’s never been admitted.

REVEALED!

I hate journos man. They are pond scum. And to think I aspired to be one as a child.

They aren't Journalists - they are opinion writers.

There are many good Journalists around

There really aren't that many tbh. Most of them are agenda-pushing propaganda merchants.

you do have to look hard, but there are quite a few, with plenty of them having to push some corporate agenda to get some great stories out

Its a dying art unfortunately

By August that year, The Fox had signed a three-year deal with Melbourne.

Well that's dumb. By December he'd signed a deal with Melbourne too, but the fact is he actually first signed with them on 6th June, after debuting April 17. We can all count together - that's a deal with Melbourne within 7 weeks of his FG debut.

The rest of the article is as laughable, with a sprinkling of legitimate points made.

How bad is the Roosters recruitment and retention? Here is a list of NRL-level players released by Roosters in the last decade:
Mitchell Pearce
Sisa Waqa
BJ Leilua
Brad Takairangi
Todd Carney
RTS
Michael Jennings
James Maloney
SBW
Dylan Napa
Kane Evans
Latrell
Matterson
Momirovski
Tetevano
Kyle Flanagan

unbelievable - you could create a whole quality first-grade side with those players, you know, if only they actually were all playing at the same time and salary cap wasn't a thing and you could contract 60 players every year.

I’ve never read those comments about Tedesco and the deadline put by Cleary being one of the reasons he left. Another wonderful gift by Cleary before he deserted the ship.

I dont think its anywhere near the whole story. If I recall correctly Tedesco was stooging around with WT but all the time he had apparently agreed to terms with Roosters. Remember Tedesco had already before signed with Canberra but reneged at the last minute to remain with WT. The bloke was always going to go somewhere else as soon as he felt he had developed to a degree he could get a good price. Tedesco was never a WT player beyond the guernsey on the day.

Thats why I think WT have to fight these negative, biased articles either with a rebuttal or their own piece in their website. The negative view of the club by outside players will never be quelled unless we fight this type of rubbish.

I reckon just let those ones go, those articles that are so stupid and so trolling, there's no point trying to address the falsehoods and made up stories.

Tedesco was stooging around, but also does anyone legitimately think Tigers were threatening to revoke, rescind or scupper the Tedesco deal if he didn't sign on by the deadline? Tigers wanted to sure-up their roster, they would put a timeline for an answer on every deal for every player... that doesn't mean they are going to withdraw the offer, you just don't let those things drag on.

And then, if a player really wants to stay at your club, why does he need such a long period of time to make a decision, or why can't he ask for an extension to make a decision? The mere concept of asking for a decision timeline makes you want to leave a club? Like are Roosters going to wait forever for Tedesco to make up his mind next time around, indefinite decision timeframe? Nonsense.

The Tedesco story is crap the guy was always heading east. Him ***and the whole family are roosters diehard supporters*** so with their deep pockets and superstar roster it was inevitable. We could of offered $2m a year and he'd still have gone to them. The thing that drives me up the wall the most are the wingers and speed men we've lost to Bellamy and the storm over the years.

Actually to accurate Teddy's whole family, with the exception of him and his Dad are diehard, put your hand in your pocket Balmain and now WT supporters.

"Oh they are all Tigers supporters, except the player himself, and his Dad."

There's only 1 reason I support Tigers, and it's because of my Dad, and it wouldn't matter if the rest of my family supporter Eels, if me and Dad were locked in for Tigers, that's it.

2: Yeah no argument about JAC, it was dumb of the club, but how about having a go at the Sharks for letting him go first?

2. Rabbits let JAC go first, then Sharks.

3. Pretty sure Isaac Liu never played for Tigers in any junior capacity? He was Keebra Park but signed on for Roosters NYC. Going to Keebra doesn't automatically make you a Tigers junior, case-in-point Jordan Kahu who was supposed to come down, never set foot in Sydney and claimed family issues. Might as well add Greg Eastwood and others to the list of Keebra kids who didn't go to Tigers.

My point being it’s a big family with many uncles who have tipped money into Balmain for many years. Globe Tiger didn’t say Teddy is a roosters fan , he said the whole family.
