Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

A mate of mine used to work with the Roosters. Still gets a bit of oil from time to time. Had lunch with him today and he heard Sheens has put some feelers out on a George Williams return, especially with Hastings headed to the Knights.

Plan was to offer Williams 3 years as cover for 7 if Brooks rejects an extension (at a lower rate). If Brooks accepts, they’ll play Williams at 6. Doueihi asking too much and still has a lot to learn. Personally, I think Doueihi has a bit of a chip on his shoulder and thinks he’s a bit better than he is as a starting half right now.

Moses is apparently also being tabled an offer. However, I also heard through my fiancés cousin who’s good mates with Burton about a month ago that apparently Moses is/has signed with the Dogs for ‘24. He’s a bit of a loose unit though so not sure if he’s much good for a inside goss.

Doueihi set to manage himself

Wests Tigers playmaker Adam Doueihi is taking over his own management and has placed a hefty price tag on his services.

Doueihi has been selling himself as a No.7 or No.6 to a rival club and is after a three-year deal worth at least $900,000 a season. I’ve been told by those with knowledge of the situation he wants a minimum of $850,000 for the first season, with his price going up in future years.

With a dearth of quality No.7s in the competition, it’s a good tactic, but it remains to be seen if a club will go for that price. He is a quality player, but has had knee issues in the past. Even with healthy legs, he is going to need a breakout season to reach that level of income.

There are about half-a-dozen $1 million halves in the NRL, headed by Nathan Cleary, Cameron Munster and Daly Cherry-Evans, but Doueihi is not in that class.

The Tigers’ roster is better than it has been and if he can cash in on good service from the likes of Api Koroisau, Jackson Hastings and maybe Luke Brooks he may mount a case for an upgrade.

I have no inside oil here but what club is there that needs a front linenumber 7 desperately that a Leb would want to go too?

The answer is obvious.

He isnt worth 900k though.

He would be extremely lucky to get 700k, and that is accounting for salary cap going up.

If salary cap stays still, 600 would be an amazing deal for him. Which I think is what he is on now.

I don't begrudge Doueihi for trying to get as money as possible during his career. He has a contract for the next twelve months - there is no need for him to sign something this far in advance just because of the media. Is he worth 900k? Absolutely not. But a 24 year old deciding to negotiating on his own behalf for the first time adopting a somewhat dumb/naive negotiating tactic is hardly a reason for the fans to go cold on him. If it's the same story in 6/9 months and there is a huge media storm over it - different story. TBH - he is very young, seems like a good learning experience. Personally, for 600/700k I hope he signs, fixes the bad bits of the game and is our club captain, just as I thought 2/3 months ago.

Props for 2023.

With Klemmer on board shortly, second year for Pole and the return from injuries of Uto, Twal and Blore and letting powder puff Musgrove depart I believe WT engine room is looking much better.

Klemmer, Ofanhengaue and Twal in their mid 20's are coming to the prime of their careers as a props and some young bulls leading the next generation. Exciting stuff

Klemmer (age 27)
Ofanhengaue (age 27)
Utoikamanu (age 22)
Pole (age 20)
Twal (age 26)
Blore (some Forum members suggest he could be used as a prop/lock) (age 22)

Faino (part of Top 30) (age 21)
T Simpkins (part of top 30) (age 21)

The top 6 players barring injury should all be part of the 17.

Would you have any of them at starting lock? Could Blore, Papps or Bateman play the middle role?

FACT;- Hastings is gone !--get over it. FACT;- Brooks is playing in the halves in 2023. --love it or leave it- suck rocks. FACT;- AD will not get $900,000 or an extended contract. FACT; - there are few if any halves on the market better then Brooks at this time. Fact ;- Sheens will not keep anyone that does not benefit the club, including Brooks, Fact;- this is a good time for the Tigers, sensible signings, money in the cap, juniors coming through, and big money from off contract players in 2024. Enjoy while you can.
True.

But the frustrating bit is 2023 is almost a write-off.

What's wrong with the reception POM gets here?

And your "exclusive and detailed" scoops on the other forum include Nanai interest and Perham signing with us which none eventuated. The Hastings one did and I'll give you that. 1/3 strike rate isn't something to be advertising and to "keep up" with
Tigers were/are chasing Nanai hard and placed a big offer (confirmed later by the Pom) so....keep up,,,mathematically 2/3.

I was also 3 weeks ahead of the media and Pom with Sheens. 3/4. So 75% of my information has proven to be true, the rest was also true but changed. Thank you for proving my bona fides...but What is it to you?

As I said a few days ago, Moses will go to a very strong roster. He is not into rebuilds. Also Gus has had a man crush on Moses since he first hit grade.
As for the dogs being cap compliant, well is it a issue, the NRL don’t seem to care
in 24 the dogs have like 4 rostered players from memory
