he needs a black board, chalk and repeat one thousand times "we need a ball player 7 with a kicking game"He made it really clear in his last coaches update (I think) that we need a ball player.
But if Laurie never gets a shot in his natural position, that he's played most of his footy in since he was a kid, then how do we know how he'll go there? Given how terrible our other halves have been surely it's worth a shot before we let him goNor is he a 7 or 6. Has shown no orgnizational skills, his defence is poor and his attitude worse. Sure the current 7 and 6 don't have these skills either but at least they've played in the positions before so on occasions may do something worthwhile..
Seyfarth turned them down because he wants to stay in Sydney with his family.Warriors wanted Seyfarth not long ago didn't they?
Pretty sure they offered him decent coin - gonna assume Webster liked what he saw from him when he was here coaching. Maybe some convincing from both ends can get it done.
Seyfarth for Volkman/Metcalf
Offering arguably one of the best back rowers in the game for a 3rd or 4th string halfback is not smart at all.... it's either Seyfarth or no one.
Josh Curran however is someone I would be enquiring about ... barely being used I think he only played the last 15 mins last week. He's a starting back rower for sure.
I'm sure his mindset was more to stay here and try earn a extension instead of leaving, however if there's no other NRL option and we make it clear he won't be re-signed then it's either 350-400k a year playing in NZ for a few years or being out of the league.Seyfarth turned them down because he wants to stay in Sydney with his family.

Prob waiting till round 20 before making an evaluation.do you think Sheens realises that yet?
His point about the Marshall Moltzen halves combo is true, no sane coach would have split that up, but that's not how Sheens rolls, as we are finding out all over againWow, blaming Sheens for Moltzen.
Prob waiting till round 20 before making an evaluation.
But in all seriousness I truly believe that Brooks in the team week in and week out must be due to pressure from above, reckon he must have a mate or something in the boardroom. It's not just a Sheens thing, it was Taylor, Maguire now Sheens. Reckon there might be pressure from above to include him in the team, it's the only logical thing I can think of.
Logical?Prob waiting till round 20 before making an evaluation.

Yes he won’t improve here unfortunately. Api was the best hooker in the NRL last season and Papalii was close to being the best backrower - both are struggling in this current outfit, so no surprise a young player like Laurie would struggle also.Yes. We taught how to shy away from a bomb. We taught him how to be constantly out of position.
Seriously, he needs to put more in to improve his game. He could be good but doesn't seem to improve.
Further to this we are obligated to promote Josh Feledy (centre) and I'd also promote Jahream Bula (fullback/wing), Aitasi James (prop) if he continues his form in Cup, and try to sign an A-grade spine player - George Williams or RTS or Jack Welsby and look to the likes of 3 or 4 of Blake Taafe, Kaeo Weekes, Luke Metcalf, Connor Tracey, Brad Parker, JWH for 1 season, Josh Curran, Kayal Iro, Raymond Vaega etc to help transform our squad.Unless something significantly shifts in performance soon, the best thing for our club moving forward is to move on those players who have consistently exhibited poor attitudes & have been part of our losing culture over an extended period.
Luke Brooks, Daine Laurie, Tuki Simpkins & Tommy Talau - not re-signed.
Adam Doeuihi, David Nofoaluma & Alex Twal - provide them opportunity to sign elsewhere in '24.
Wakeham, Lomi Saukuru, Staines & Seyfarth are all off contract too however Wakeham, Staines & Seyfarth could push for 1-2 year deals based on their performance this season.
Then promote or bring in 7-10 players who exhibit leadership qualities, footy IQ, positive attitudes along with the right physical attributes & footy skill for their positions.
I agree with your point. I don't know how many players have to come here and flop for people to realise maybe it's not just the player's fault.Yes he won’t improve here unfortunately. Nudes, I’m telling ya.Prob waiting till round 20 before making an evaluation.

love your thinking and he’s uber talented but I doubt they give away either Metcalf or Volkman. that’s their halves pairing for the next decade once SJ hangs them up. only thing up our sleeve is the fact that Metcalf might get homesick but again he’ll be very hard to prise away. Why don’t we give Luke Metcalf’s manager a call?
The kid can play and is a really good 7 prospect imo
With Shaun Johnson winding back the clock and Te Marie Martin playing good footy too - also having Volkman ahead of him
I don’t see Warriors being hesitant to part ways especially with the depth they have
I’d give him the starting 7 jersey straight away over here and he’s off contract next year too…..
Indeed!I agree with your point. I don't know how many players have to come here and flop for people to realise maybe it's not just the player's fault.
the fact that we neglected our pathways between Moses and Conti/Isdale has resulted in these issues. now that there’s renewed focus on our pathways that won’t be happening as much. Brooks was well developed but various factors have destroyed him. Jock Madden did a great apprenticeship while he was here and will become a 100 gamer. Lachlan Ilias was in our system for sometime before getting injured and discarded.I can't believe over the last 20 years WT have only developed two junior half backs of quality - Robert Lui and Mitchel Moses.
Is there issues developing quality half backs? Poor junior coaching, poor pathway systems, something is not right.
Yes I know but my point being there might be someone at board level forcing the coaches hand. He might be a favourite player of theirs or something, I'm just saying it is the only logical conclusion I can come up with as to why Brooks has never been sent to reserve grade by multiple coaches.Logical?
Making football decisions that are detrimental to the team winning football games is illogical.
