The worst thing about following a crap club

Rugby League and the Wests Tigers were lost to me over 3 years ago now. I only pop on here occasionally to have a chat and see how everyone is doing and I guess there is always that underlying hope that WT will start performing like a team one day, but it’s a forlorn hope. In reality, I have lost all serious interest in my team and the sport itself. I’d rather this club fold altogether so I don’t even have to think about it anymore.

Rebellion is built on hope, and we have hope.

Cheer up lads, we’re all suffering because we know success will only come with change of the right kind. And it will require owners taking a back seat.
The Chairman says maintain the faith, I say maintain the protest.
And above all else keep your hope alive my friends.

I am finding this season for the first time ever I can't be bothered watching games apart from our game each week.I have always liked watching the top sides playing each other simply because I love rugby league. But this with our team being garbage some weeks plus the ridiculous selection decisions by sheens I can barely watch our games and couldn't care less who wins the other games and this saddens me If I wasn't so hopeful of our youth coming through I don't know how much longer I could continue to watch the Game I have loved for 60 years

You can be bothered watching our games? I don't think I've watched a game for about three or four weeks now.

I'm more likely to watch other games than ours because I'm not invested and I like to see what it's like to watch a team win in a game that doesn't involve us losing.

Skip the weekly WT game. Watch the others. Its refreshing watching teams who actually know how to play.

Probably five years ago I realised that in my posts on this forum I was using the word hope a lot, sometimes several times in each post. I made the decision that I wasn't going to use that 'H' word anymore in my posts. I wanted to be able to express confidence about the direction the club and team were taking.

Oops. Having been a member for 53 years, You’ve no doubt seen it all. I’ll take your advice. The H word and Wests Tigers shouldn’t be used in the same sentence. Got it.
I agree with Happy, we’re looking at the spoon in 23 and 24, so there won’t be much to cheer about.
The sad part about having Wests Tigers loyalty is watching the club struggle and being powerless to do anything about it.
Supporting the club only encourages mediocrity, while protesting and rejection creates an empty feeling. A loss of spiritual belonging.
I’ll give the protesting a go for a while longer?

These players are professional athletes and earn very good money compared to the general public.
They should show more pride and passion and try and improve themselves and the club.

Going back to the past with Sheens is not the answer and the club keeps on making these dumb decisions each and every season. Appears the club never learns a lesson.

If I was a talented player and had other clubs after me I would not sign with WT.

We appear a club without a plan.

Spoons for 2023 and 2024.

Pascoe really needs to move on a an experienced CEO with NRL experience needs to take over.

So many problems and not enough solutions.

I love WT and will never change but my interest goes down every season.

I love Rugby League and enjoy watching close contests and quality games.
I think there are too many clubs and not enough talent to go around plus I would reduce the game to 12 players dropping the lock position.

I'd love to see us winning games as much as the next fan, but I still get some pleasure from watching when we're not doing well.

Despite popular opinion, there are plenty of games where the guys are having a go.

I also get a buzz from seeing a young bloke make his debut in front of friends and family. What an amazing moment!

As for other teams, there are a few that I have a soft spot for. I enjoy watching them when I get the chance.

Why even bother following the club if you get no pleasure from it? Life's too short.

What champion @Papacito said.

I watch most games each week including ours.

What I take from watching other games is that even other teams that are so called basket cases are so much better than us in many areas, 2 coaches already punted this season and those teams are doing better than we are, one of them was actually running 9th at the time of the coaches sacking and were actively challenging for the top 8, something we can only dream of.

I am constantly astounded when I watch us play and cannot believe that our line speed never improves, that we are never standing deep in attach, that despite 200 passes at training every day our ball handling is pretty poor, that our edges are so porous, that we have hardly any kick chase, we are hopeless at defending any sort of attacking kicks whether they be grubbers or the high ball.

It's really hard to see improvement in these areas from week to week.

It's a self perpetuating process, game after game.
And IMO all down to "lack of."
Lack of direction, confidence, leadership, and quality.
All these are possible to fix.
Get the right players and you fix the consistency. (EG Api's back soon etc as a start)
Trouble is the process of change takes time, and we here are not actually part of the internal mechanisms within the club who are driving the change - hence the frustration.

I believe Sheens intentions as Football Manager at the beginning and now also as coach are one and the same: he saw a vision for the club longer-term with the pathways program.
No overnight fix there - just over time.
And that is still the aim - breed from within.

I love it when your out and about and someone sees your WT members hat or finds out you go for the Tigers and they laugh and then say some condescending, I feel sorry for you but really don’t comment. Thanks Fruit Pascals.

Very astute observation Hank, I feel exactly the same. We just seem to be treading water each week with no appreciable change. Surely if something doesn’t work it’s better to try another option but we seem to do the same things over and over and expect it to suddenly change. I’m calling that a coaching issue but it is very, very, very annoying and frustrating.
It’s interesting when I watch the Warriors how they seem to move on from one thing to another, ALL AT PACE. Maybe that Websters got something, wonder where he came from ?
