Steve Smith scores 1 run in his last hour at the crease then gets out.Marsh might have saved our bacon but once he got out in comes Carey whos been struggling for form and puts on an 18 run partnership of which Carey gets 16 and leg bye . Smith struggled with timing for 4 hours and took no pressure off Carey . His whole approach is negative .
Yes he got 50 but I'm not that impressed .
Kwajaja got a good one 2nd ball -that can happen
Warner played on some say unlucky but trying to pull a ball 3 ft outside offstump is dumb
Marnus leg side strangle also unlucky but why on earth play at the last ball before lunch down leg side also dumb
Head got an unplayable Jaffa - best ball bowled in series imo
Carey and the bowlers need to put on 60 to be safe tomorrow

The Run Smith couldn’t time a hit at Tee ball at the moment, but he too saved our bacon by not getting out while Marsh scored the runs. If Smith gets out early we’d be bowling for the test match by now and when you’re not playing well but still scoring 50 how good are ya?
Warners shot was average but Marnus’s was terrible at that time. The other two yeah both got gooduns.
I’d like another 60, which we’ll get, but I reckon we’re safe now.

You are right with Smith but its been a long time since Smith played a classy knock
I just think his negative approach is what's stifling his batting
If Carey ,Starc can put on 25 and whoever bats with Cummings can put on another 20 throw in 15 from Lyon and Josh then Pakistan chasing 300 ? Don't think they can do it We both agree that Davy and Marnus shots were just dumb .That ball that got Head Wow it would have bowled most batters -reminds me of What Lillee sent down at the back end of his career

I think Smith is taking the approach of if I stay out in the middle long enough it will come back and with each long innings you can almost see it towards the end, and I’m sure he probably feels like he’s not far off but to the viewer he looks miles off at times. But in saying all that, he’s averaged 42 in 2023 and 58 in 2022 scoring a 200not. Warners career average is 45? Smith is the best bat since the Don, and has an in-form average of 70, so I am prepared to put up with an out of form average of 42 and a lower strike rate for a while especially while we are winning. I was hoping that the calibre of the Pakis and the Windies might play him back into some form. It would be nice if he could finish his career averaging 60 and go out on his own terms in about 5 years, confirming his status as number 2.
 
Day 4 cameras in Aussie nets and our bowlers actually bowling .Given state of game would have thought better they bat in nets because in next 30-60 minutes they will be batting
 
We put on 75 for last 4 wickets .Pakistan need 317 in 4th innings .We should win this
Well done Carey 53 .He put on 37 today with Starc 9 ,Cummings 22 Lyon 11 and Josh his 1 not out ..

Sometimes it looked empty. Embarrassing, at the so called home of Oz sport, but people need to wanna get off their lounge and go see it.
I’ll be in Sydney and I really looked into seat pricing and options this time, there’s your usual cheap tickets in the sun all day for $40ish, if you wanna be over the bowlers arm and in the shade the closer you get it ranges up to $165 General Admission. If you wanna box min is for 8 seats at $2400, then you got ya inside with food and drinks starting at $660 PP, then 800 with sit down lunch and 990 for sit down lunch and special guest and lifetime experience. Plus you got other private boxes and “suites” that price up to $6k. I reckon some of those prices are OTT. I wanted to get inside or box tickets but not many were keen at $300 for one days test cricket where about two hours of the day is spent watching the bowlers walk back to their mark.
 
What’s the go with every time a batsman gets hit by the ball they gotta call for the freaking medic? I saw one Paki, the ball brushed his glove and he needed a kiss for the medic? I was taught to show the bowler no pain.

CommBank’s Yello “corporate seating” with padded seating and umbrellas was plonked in the middle of bay 13, the cheap seats.

About 160,000 over 4 days not bad .Next week to the draw city given always 2 days lost to rain .I'm from Sydney but frustrating days watching the last few years . They even declared on Uzzie last year on 197 because time running out .
 
Capt Pat you are a champion brilliant bowling and captaincy where you always seem to pull the right reins .
Only downers for me was Smith taking 1 hour to go from 49 -50 & day 4 Lyon bowling .Dont know what happened but he seemed really out of sorts .
Marsh is having a great series .
