CEO - Shane Richardson

Good interview.
I like the bloke, I'm glad he's in charge but I remember Lee being crucified for the same membership diatribe.
So the family that buys merch, pays their Fox subscription or watches on 9 so that the T.V. money is there aren't important?
The family that turns up at Campbo or Leichhardt week after week but aren't members don't count?

They are still important…but just don’t expect him to answer your question or email,,,that’s reserved for the members….

I agree with him, as someone quoted above just buy a non ticketed membership! Don’t be tight, put your money where your mouth is! U all winged fir change, they changed and u don’t want to cough up the mula..
Souths have 30,000 paying members, I bet there all not ticketed members.

In between 12 years of failure and now a cost of living crisis, why should people dig deep?

Moreover, what if someone has the money to buy a NT membership or a jersey and decides to buy the merchandise, why are they any lesser in the eyes of the club. Or they may want to go to a game at CSS/LO rather than spend it on NT membership.

Members make the club more financially independent, as Richo sss as I’d we can’t rely on the leagues club to pay the bills for ever. We need to be making the cash on our own, most great clubs run this way! Time to step up! Less talk, more walk!
Buying a jersey every 4 years doesn’t cut it!

Look at Collingwood has like 100,000 members again not all ticketed!

If they buy merchandise like a hat or jersey.. they get the honour of wearing it and the respect and jealousy of their friends and families that support other terms ,,,

I was a member for years. Haven't renewed for seven or eight seasons now and I don't feel the slightest bit guilty over it.

Incompetent administration were taking the fanbase for a ride, I understand any WT fans reluctance to not part with their money.

Lastly, you missed my other point. If a fan has the money to choose between a non ticketed membership or going to a game that season or buying a jersey, why are they looked down upon when they are still financially contributing? Bagging fans for not committing when the club has been an absolute shitshow for over a decade is tone deaf.

So how much do the non-ticketed members actually contribute to the club's bottom line?

They are the non-profitable memberships that even your mate Justin warned about (pets, babies, out of towners etc)!

If they buy a hat, Justin Pascoe gets a tingle in his goody bag.

while they are at it if they are bringing back alumni from 25 years of wests tigers we can start to drop off the balmain and wests former players like elias jack roach etc and also have nsw cup branded as wests tigers

I think the national reserve grade will take care of that. VLandys will get that through to settle the funding issue with the QRL and NSWRL.

Aside from the members topic & clearly bagging the financial state of the club key things from the interview:

- corporate strategy will be out mid march for all to see
- focus on the west will be of greater focus
- roster wise he said our backs were a problem area needing focus
- we will have roster spots to juniors but need some more top squad recruitment from outside the club

- single line of Benji needs some experienced support around him and later name dropped Bennett who he is in contact with, maybe something in the works

- he is supporting Benji all in that’s clear

- it will take longer than 12mths to turn things around

At no stage do I get the view Richo is here for 6mths only & warming a seat.

Reporting 9,000 free junior passes as memberships, that is just low. So much for the NRL vetting them. Ladies and gentlemen you were just played for suckers for 9 long years. Nice to hear Richo talking about honesty.

He basically said Lee and Pascoe have been absolutely full of it throughout their tenure. Fudging membership numbers, taking credit for financial stability when we're just leeching to remain viable, outdated marketing, poor support of the football operations. Not much more he could tread on. He talked approvingly about Benji's style of play, where Pascoe and Lee never knew about such matters to be able to talk about.

Pascoe, as recently as his podcast interview with Graham, said everything's great with operations now we just need success on the field, Richardson said when our club operations are successful we will be successful on the field. Easy to see who has the right priorities.

Loved it.

As fans we got a sense that Pascoe was sloppy and a bit clueless, but seeing Richardson just talking decent sensible ideas really proves to me just how bad Pascoe was.

He was talking about cutbacks. Not wasting money,
working on a fillet budget when it's really rump I think.

Interested to know what ppl think about when he
said he doesn't talk to punters only members. When
Lee said that last year re: paying members there
was a lot of vitriol for him on here. good interview.
Dont like how he keeps referencing souths though,
He showed pascoe up to be above his head, they
really treatss the joint like a vanity project/social club
Richo is a stopgap, like Sheens was. Who's next up to the plate, though?

Great CEOs with a sports background are few and far between, especially in the NRL.

It all counts, AFL also count pets as paying members do it’s not just a Pascoe thing. Look your one of the biggest Pascoe haters on here, they got rid of him like u wanted. So did u put your money where your mouth is?? Or are u just another non paying mouth piece??
U can be a supporter all u like but unless your a paying member, u shouldn’t have a voice. It’s like other league clubs memberships like parra and the dogs, u have to be a member to vote the board out, simples.
