CEO - Shane Richardson

I think Richo was spot on personally. If people are fickle enough to have an issue with it, then so be it. But if I'm a paying member, I want his time spent improving the club and looking after members, not every tom, dick and harry.

Him saying that is for the benefit of the club and its members. It's more to do with focus.

The only grey area is as per the example above if the supporter still invests time and/or money into the club. But I think membership is still the best way to do that. They could tackle that if they make a flexible membrship for a couple of games a year.

Hard not 2 agree with this sentiment. Whatever he
was doing he thought it was right, did a bit of good
too securing COE & stuff but out of his depth like
you said. I don't hold any grudges, past is the past
Absolutely. We should probably look at the current health and hospitality CEOs, which in my opinion are closely related to sports. This could give us a better thought process and a better business model.

Why the elitist attitude from you now?
What exactly do you think he does for you as a “member” (glorified season ticket holder) that a non “member” shouldn’t get?
I won’t presume to know your situation, but I’d wager there are lots of non “members” who spend far more money with the club then the glorified “members” do.

Because I want the club to succeed. Richo has limited time. It's exactly the same as a corporate structure. Shareholders get a say with the ceo.

You'll see I had a crack at Tiger Karen earlier for spamming him with emails. Same logic.

I'm not a member at the moment by the way. So I don't think I have the right and I support it.

Why did you remove my section that answered the 2nd part about non members? It's a valid point, but there is no way to distinguish who they are. If they are wearing a new Tigers jersey, then I'm sure richo would make an exception.

If you think it's elitist, then so be it. But I just see it as logic.

WOW!!
And the review and its findings continue.
Where will this go?
Unfortunately every club is lying about members to some extent. Souths sell pet memberships. My BIL bought his kid a non-ticket Souths kids' members pack which is basically $50 in exchange for some merchandise, and therefore his son is a member.

NRL don't audit memberships unfortunately, it's all self-reported.

Love Richo even more after the Behind the Roar podcast and glad I renewed my membership so I can ask him a question and be apart of the family!

Hows he say in his opinion we will have the best spine in the competition in 2025 😍😍 and no one will come to the club unless Benji says so. I love him, he is a breath of fresh air after the last administration.

Members will be the first to know!!!!
He can only be a breath of fresh air at this stage? Man's been in the job about 8 weeks.

I'm not a Richo knocker but I've been around long enough to hear all of this before, in some guise or another, from plenty of smooth talkers who earnestly want to appear trustworthy.

Results will matter and that is how Richo will be judged. It's very very easy to walk into a joint and say how you would do things differently, but an entirely different thing to implement said changes and hang around to see if they bring success.

Good interview.
I like the bloke, I'm glad he's in charge but I remember Lee being crucified for the same membership diatribe.
So the family that buys merch, pays their Fox subscription or watches on 9 so that the T.V. money is there aren't important?
The family that turns up at Campbo or Leichhardt week after week but aren't members don't count?
I think he may need to stop and have a think about what he's saying.
Absolutely. Richo literally said if someone came up to him and wasn't a member, he'd tell them to go away. But if you were a member, he'd stop and listen to your question.

Hearing what you said, but there's never been (to my memory) a club changeover like this - Board sacked, Chairman sacked, CEO sacked - this is a new playing field 100%

This bloke speaks sense. I like when people point out the obvious we lack talent in the backs. Badly constructed roster. We will get killed out wide each week. They will be able to sign backs when Luai gets here I believe.
You must mean Luau

He basically said Lee and Pascoe have been absolutely full of it throughout their tenure. Fudging membership numbers, taking credit for financial stability when we're just leeching to remain viable, outdated marketing, poor support of the football operations. Not much more he could tread on. He talked approvingly about Benji's style of play, where Pascoe and Lee never knew about such matters to be able to talk about.

Pascoe, as recently as his podcast interview with Graham, said everything's great with operations now we just need success on the field, Richardson said when our club operations are successful we will be successful on the field. Easy to see who has the right priorities.

Loved it.

As fans we got a sense that Pascoe was sloppy and a bit clueless, but seeing Richardson just talking decent sensible ideas really proves to me just how bad Pascoe was.
It's all talk at this stage. All Richo's predecessors said the same things.

There are two main differences I picked out between last year and this year:

(1) Richo doesn't want to rely on hand-outs from the Leagues Club. I get what he was saying about self-dependence but when the Leagues club is also officially your owner and they want to put in a million bucks per year, why not accept and spend it?

(2) This is the first year of the new home ground plan and it costs $$$. We don't know how much, but the whole reason for the original Homebush deal was guaranteed income - and that's now gone. I believe the new plan puts a pretty big dent into Tigers finances, having most matches capped at 18-20K attendance and very limited corporate capacity compared to the major stadia.

It's happened to a significant extent twice already. In 2000 and again 2014 when Marina Go was appointed independent chair and the NRL stepped in to give Balmain a loan.

I don't disagree that it's a fairly clean slate here, but sometimes sacking everyone in charge isn't the best move either. Time will tell.

That are still financial members, they paid for them. Your mate just handed them out for free.

Pascoe fudging the numbers, well i'll be.
Quite enjoyed the podcast and agreed with pretty much everything he said, aside from not talking to fans who are non members. I get where he's coming from but i think its a bit harsh considering there's quite a lot of people who were members through some part of the 10 yr + shitshow who are on the fence about re committing or can't afford to right now.
The people that go to games and buy merch ect are just as important, his comments could alienate a few and they also could rally a few.
I think if Richo sticks around we will be successful again, the guy knows his stuff and inspires confidence.
