Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We do not generate enough metres from our back 5 players in kick return & early sets. As a result, our forwards are getting belted & our kickers are forced to kick for field position too often, not attacking kicks.

Staines is pretty much a liability in that role.

Turuva next season helps. I think Olam is being weighed down by too much reliance on his runs individually.

If Doueihi comes back & stays fit- he helps with metres generated from the back.

There are 2 fairly low cost players off contract that could help with this. Jeral Skelton gets mentioned a lot on here & he would be one. Izaac Thompson from Souths would be another. Both are bigger bodies that can move. Not the most talented guys, not the youngest guys, but on 1-2 year deals, they are low risk with solid reward types of signings that have a PURPOSE other than just being name signings or high risk signings.
Its not just that our back 5 arent strong ball runners. They also don't generate metres from our back 5 because they can't keep another team pinned in their own half and force a long kick for our back 5 to return. I dont think either of those bigger body ball runners will address the issue of running metres (even if they are slight upgrades on what we've got) as they will also be standing under the ball getting hit as soon as they catch it.

I did hear an interview with Arthur I think it was on ABC, he stated he won't go anywhere as an assistant
His position on that might be different if he hasn’t secured a head coach role by this time next year. I’d prefer him as a head coach though. Seems a bit like Madge with regards toughness but a bit more to his game plans than 5 hit-ups and a kick.

One thing about Moses is that he is predictable when it comes to a talent like Galvin. He will follow a script and I am sure Richardson became acquainted with it years ago. Hang tough WTs, get Luai and Turuva plus one or two professionals into the club.

I'd love to know a stat regarding how often it is Moses involved in a player either asking for a release or agitating for an early upgrade.

It seems like it would have to be 80% plus. Will the NRL ever do anything?? Um no.

This is the outcome the NRL want. The strong get stronger by building off the back of the work of the development clubs.

We were well in that game at halftime. The size of the Dragons' forwards took its toll as did the sinbinning. I cannot wait to see Luai and Turuva in our team which imo will improve the team significantly. This was always a tough year and dishing it out to Marshall is very premature.
But not the size of our ability to believe in ourselves after we proved it in the first half.

It seems that way but I just can't for the life of me understand why they would want that.

Actions speak louder then words and the actions of the NRL suggest this is true, even though I don't think it is.

However they refuse to do anything to help even the competition. They allow the better players at weaker clubs to break contracts and be poached. They refuse to change the most ridiculous salary cap rule ever in place in world sport, a rule that benefits stronger clubs and keeps weaker clubs down. That rule is the one where you have to spend a certain amount on your cap. So no matter how bad your roster is, every year that roster costs the same as the best roster in the comp. How do you rebuild effectively when you are forced to over spend on mediocre talent? Have I told you guys I hate the NRL administration? Lol

Yeah mate two or three mistakes really hurt a young side like ours. I listened to Marshall and I was impressed with his ability to sum up the issue we need to address. We need the professionalism and experience of Luai and Turuva.

Not trying to have a go at you mate ..but identifying the problem is the easy part … we are starting to hear the same thing every week from him,,,
