Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Not sure where this Hetherington talk is coming from .. but yes Hunt, Bird and Big Red from Canberra have all toured the Centre of Excellence at Concord.

I believe we've got a better than good chance to sign Hunt and Bird .. but Horsburgh I'm not so sure .. he has already stated he misses home (QLD) .. but hey money speaks louder than words .. and we've got the money.

Could you imagine our forward pack next season:
8. Klemmer
9. Api
10. Hunt
11. Fainu
12. Horsburgh
13. Bird

Back up forwards:
Johanssen
Pole
Miller
Porter
Twal
Seyfarth
Sione Fainu

You have to get at least Pole, Seyfarth and Sione Fainu on the bench I reckon, with the fourth bench spot for DaSilva or Latu Fainu. Twal might be a bit unlucky, but hard to fit him in if the pack lined up like that in 2025. Hard to imagine we would get all 3 of Hunt, Horsburgh and Bird though.

We'll have a better pack if Twal is fit and available but not in the starting 17.

Hunt likely? Any other mail? I’m kinda hoping not which means the leaks are coming from somewhere else other than the club.

I'm not being snooty when I say I don't think Kade
or Teddy has any mail re: Hunt before the news hit
the media cycle. We brought his name up on here
as a possibility/signing suggestion a while back
and manifested it. Not insulting anyone on here neither,
apologies if I'm wrong too, that's what I think is
happening. I also think Chammas has been frozen
out from us due to his dealing with Gus/9. Only person
at the moment I'd give time of day to is Brent Read

Edge backrower and lock need to be the priority should we land Hunt or Horsbrugh. Looking at the current depth chart going into next year, the backrow easily has the least depth.

Out of all the names we’re linked to the most important for me is Corey Horsbrough.

He’s an absolute beast who can play 80 mins in the middle. He barely misses tackles, can bend the line and has a great offload on him. He’s still a baby at 26 as well.

He should be the priority. There’s a reason the one game he comes back for against Penrith of all teams that Canberra win the game.

Hunt’s pending signing is purely based on the fact that the club feels as if we have a lot of workhorse forwards and lack some impact and grunt which Hunt provides better than most in the league especially with Stef’s departure it’s much needed even if it’s for 35 min stints off the bench. He’s not breaking the bank regardless on what the media is trying to tell you.

I think adding Frizell to that mix for some experience and well needed standard setting next to Luai would benefit us massively, we could be a serious side next year.

Heatherington also another great suggestion but I’d prefer Horsbrough over him any day or the week. Leo Thonspon another as well, however expect Penrith and Roosters to be onto that.

I know I’m going fantasy mode here but If we somehow nabbed To’o in the off-season as well then geez…. would be hard to not get excited.

I wouldn't say Naden blew it, he just isn't up to the quality of other NRL players. He played to his ability. Good on him! Played more NRL games than most have. Same with Staines. Playing to his ability. Can't knock him.

Unless Hetherington is a backup plan if Horsburgh wants to go to the Broncos & Hetherington is released to make space.

That will be the challenge 4 him. We're not chasing
him to come off the bench or play 20mins I reckon
I think we are,
20 minutes at a time is his max
We require 6 middle forwards in our 17 (average 20min stints)
Only some special middle players can play longer minutes and be affective.
Murray
Yeo
Carringan
Hopgood

Yeah, and Pole/Twal can pump out long minutes
out, like someone said, rotate 20min power stints
around those guys, depending on the week. It's a good
core group with Hunt, with horsborough even better
