Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I believe a line in the sand moment is not letting them out of their contract. Showing your a push over, only let’s everyone think they can’t do the same thing. That’s where I would prefer our line was…
Fair enough, just waiting to see what the full story is though. It doesn't make sense to me why we let him go either, maybe he already had a clause that they activated to renegotiate his deal 🤷‍♂️

I'm looking to the future here with the inclusion of Johannssen and Miller. I have Bird playing off the bench as our the utility (back/forward) player. I honestly dont believe Bateman is coming back. Unfortunately Twally falls out of my side. Do we have a goal kicker, or are we relying on Api .. ??

Doesnt matter which way we mix it up .. unless players like Miller, Johannssen, Porter and Sione Fainu really step it up next season .. or unless we have someone else coming in to tighten up the forward rotation .. we look rather ordinary. I really do think we have another signing or 2 coming .. ;-)

1. Jehream Bula
2. Jeral Skelton (will be interesting see if he starts in the 1st grade or not)
3. Justin Olam
4. Solomona Faataape (i think he's done enuff for a 1st grade spot)
5. Sunia Turuva
6. Lachlan Galvin
7. Jerome Luai

8. Fonua Pole
9. Apisai Koroisau (C)
10. David Klemmer
11. Alex Seyfarth
12. Samuela Fainu
13. Kobe Hetherington (if he joins)

14. Jack Bird
15. Tim Johannssen
16. Royce Hunt
17. Jordan Miller

Sione Fainu, Rueben Porter, Adam Doueihi, Charlie Staines, Luke Laulili, Kit Laulili, Tallyn De Silva, Latu Fainu, Solomon Alaimalo, Heath Mason, Chris Faaguta, Alex Twal, Brent Naden, (??) Starford To'a (??)
Not a bad pick, but I wouldn't have Miller there yet.
Maybe TDS to help Api. OR another prop not yet signed?

Not that straightforward, is it?

Madge flogged the players, remember Jesse Sue half-collapsing, didn't result in ongoing success. Does Cleary flog his players? Robinson? Bennett?

Also cannot ignore the case of poor young Keith Titmus at Manly. Imagine if Shawn Blore has a medical incident because of that intensity.

I think people make real mistakes pointing to Craig Bellamy, arguably the greatest coach of all time, and suggesting that it's just a matter of replicating some of what Bellamy does, as if that was a simple thing.
Jesse never played under Madge?

Just listening to Shawn Blore speak about Craig Bellamy and how tough the preseason was for those guys! Blore almost fainted a couple of times due to the intensity. It’s no secret why the Storm are so successful. It’s no fluke Bellamy has made 11 Grand Finals in 20 years which is ridiculous. They demand hard work and character.

Then I listen to Galvin on the footy show yesterday, speak about how Benji is all about creating a loving, fun environment. That’s our biggest flaw. We don’t flog our players enough to see what they’re really made of. Until that changes nothing changes at this club.
Its not a matter of the coach flogging the team .. the coach demands a high level of fitness and to make sure the players dont return after the break out of condition. The Conditioning Coach is the coach that takes the players out for their so called "flogging" during pre-season. Madge made sure and demanded that our players had a high level of fitness .. unlike to what our team were used to before Madge .. poor fitness .. !!

I have no problems with Benji demanding that all his players have a very high level of conditioning / fitness during the pre-season .. and the players and the team will all benefit greatly from the conditioning. If the players arent prepared to put in during these conditioning sessions .. makes it easy for the coaching staff to dwindle out the players who aren't in for the "crocodile roll".

Its easy .."Put in .. or get the hell out .. !!"

A well credentialed coach who lost the sheds and was sacked at his last 2 NRL clubs, I say the Broncos can have him, he is a one trick pony with no plan B suited to rep quality teams in short doses, like the origin arena
Total rubbish. He’s had success everywhere else he’s been. He was stuck here with horrible admin and horrible contracts with Packer, Mbye, Reynolds on 2.4M combined. The problem was us not him.

I’d rather have him back than the old boys of 2005.

Similar to mine, I’ll probably put Sione (if re-signed) over miller and faatape I’m on the fence about, but hopefully Montoya sorts that out for us

Grandfinal this week with 2 backrowers most here and the club didn't think were good enough.
We were happy to let Blore go, happy to see the back of Garner, because we knew we had Tumeth and Sukkar locked in.
What board member is the one who gets the final say? Who is this person?

What spot ? Galvins spot obviously is what they seem concerned about
Ok, so how is he demanding Galvin's spot by asking for release clause? Or how is agreeing to the clause promising him the spot in the future?
The request of the clause suggests he/his manager is well aware that it is Galvin's spot to lose. If he was granted the clause and Galvin left he potentially still need to beat out Fainu, Sullivan and anyone else who might be around at the time. The release clause doesn't promise him anything other than he can look elsewhere IF Galvin recommits.

Do you reckon there might be a chance Galvin has already extended but the club are just waiting for a specific time to announce it?
Possible, it would make sense to announce shortly before a membership drive for 2025. However very unlikely in my opinion. Since his release request the club went from bad to worse as the season progresses. What's changed to have inspired the change of heart from him? Sure next year may be better and Luai may be a positive influence but as it stands Luai is still at the Panthers worrying about a GF, not here mentoring Galvin.

Except its not a senior management position. He's a rookie outside the top 30 it would be more akin to a junior inturn expecting a job after his internship.
Not sure of your point. It's no more a junior intern position that it is a senior management position.

I'll bet you anything they don't....
And if they do, It's not because they're first picked.
There's no way so many low output, one dimensional players that play the same position
are on the Pitch at the same time - in any other team...

Every team has one of them in their top 17 - Sure...
No one is picking all 3 of them at the same time because of some recruitment master stroke!!
Making statements that are statistically incorrect will get shown up. Weird that people celebrate Kaufusi & bag Klemmer when Klemmer's number exceed Kaufusi's.

Don't forget Eisenhuth ! Just shows what the calibre of comments here is about players - Cleary must have seen something in Garner and Eisenhuth to get them both at Penrith.
