Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

think it was a mark cuban quote, he won’t go drafting a guy who will go out and party, drop 30/5/8 the next day, but bring 4/5 teammates despite having all the talent in the world, but go for the player with character and prevent the others from going out (and most likely still talented). Will try and find it (famous last words 😂)
What?
Lol what are you trying to say here? 🤔

A bit of talk Api isn't a good captain...

Best player, biggest talker, highest work rate, cares, takes responsibility, genuinely admired by the team, fights to stay on the field when injured or crook.
In the one training session I saw he was the clear leader out there. He's everything you want in a captain and I'm proud he captains our club. We're very lucky.

You can point to the lack of success under him but I point to the way he continues to give more than everything despite those circumstances. Maybe some of you prefer a more demonstrative and agro leader who will point their finger and stuff like that, but I admire how selfless and considered Api has been. Again, he does so much more for the team then they do for him, and I just don't agree that you can put that on him, I think that's the sad culture of our club. Lesser captains would (and have) simply shrugged their shoulders and collected their paycheck and matched the mediocrity. You can see our lack of success eats at Api.

Thanks Api!

I have no idea if it is him or not but i will always back the club if they sack players for off field antics because it will always be multiple offences no matter who they are (Lodge and Suli perfect examples). You don't need dheads in the club especially if you have a lot of young blokes who could be led astray
I think it depends on the actual crime.

But I’d be much tougher on anti club conduct such as the spoon bowl laughing hyenas.

I’d ban them from all club functions and the white elephant until next year.

As (word removed) up as we are, playing for this club must be regarded as a privilege.

So what do we think team, has Miller no longer got a contract with us?

Name on the bench for Fiji.

Image below on WT website.

Link to article below. Absolutely no mention of Miller. References Ipap who is leaving. Turuva coming & lower grades players but no Miller. I assume he's gone.

That would make sense after the Buzz column about a young player getting sacked. would be too big of a mistake for them to ‘accidentally’ leave him out from the article & graphic of the rep players considering they even added Ipap who’s leaving + players that have never laced a boot for this club yet. Well spotted mate

The expression on Api's face during the post match press conferences tells you everything.

Joint captains preferably. like having 1 captain in
the backs & 1 in forwards to keep the standards up
Ok, I’ll meet halfway and agree.

If we wanted the key to getting all our ex panthera to click into gear, I think JL and Api are a solid start.

Both are eyes-up and very creative footballers by their nature. Sometimes that’s led JL into error, but the thirst is always there as it seems to be for Api.

Think it’s just a typical WT oversite.

There was this in Buzz’s column on Sunday. Hope it’s not related.

Which rising youngster is about to be sacked from his club? His top 30 deal is set to be ripped up because of off-field issues.
Yeah I thought Cobbo with that one. And all the talk is he is going to the Cowboys. So made sense but it could be something else entirely and more extreme.

The Brooks hate remains strong.

He’s gone, we’re still shit and as recently as the weekend just gone he was impressive in a rep game, off the back of a finals series.

Could of been a few other factors.
Impressive against PNG doesn't really count

Was reading an article on the Daily Tele about the Top 50 players in the NRL who aren't signed for next year. Reading through the names these are the ones who stood out to me the most who could be serviceable to the club while letting the young guys develop. Ofahiki Ogden, Matthew Lodge, Valynce Te Whare, Zach Dockar-Clay, Chris Patolo, Peter Hola, Joe Stimson, Dean Ieremia. Who out of these guys would you take? For the record these are guys who maybe wouldn't make the top 17 but if there are injuries/suspensions you aren't having to rely on kids who aren't ready to play first grade.
I was looking at the list and surprised no one has mentioned Jacob Alick-Wiencke. Looked good when given an opportunity with the Titans and behind Fermor and Fifita there

If he was charged and before a magistrate in a criminal case, the prosecutor would be saying something like,

"We will be providing evidence to the court that the accused is guilty as charged, however, there were extenuating circumstances and we believe that he did not act alone."

The "rep" game was a team of a combination of fringe first graders like Seyfarth, Liddle and McIntyre plus some rookie up and comers and a few cooked veterans, playing against a Queensland Cup team.
One of the "rep" players was described by his own father on the Macca Sunday morning show on the ABC as "playing some games filling in for Bradman Best".

The "finals series" was a humiliation where he was exposed as sadly out of his depth.

The Brooks cult will grasp at any straw.
