Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Confirmed by the club today as a NSW Cup signing. Good solid player with experience that will suit as at Cup level.
He’s a career reserve grader (not a knock). There’s no way he’d be on the first grade radar unless about 10 players go down. I think even AD would get thrown into the halves if we were that depleted before Falls.

Yep spot on. I really like the signing for Cup. Give us some direction. If he plays NRL for us, we are in trouble.

Yr gonna covet winning the reserve grade comp...!Will be a wonderful achievement that will truly get the turnstyles rolling...??
We deserve better ,and shld aim that way .
Still got Bud on our books for next 2 years after this season if yr talking halves
Why wld u wanna buy another fringe half??
Hes probably got more potential than yr suggestions, and were committed to him(and vice versa)
Sullivan is on $500k a year. If you think a fourth or fifth choice half is a worthwhile use of that cap room I honestly don't know what to say to you. If we was on minimum salary I suspect we'd have kept him but we clearly had better things to do with the money - specifically, re-signing Sione Fainu, a player who will probably play a dozen or so first grade games this season.

In the real world, you have to make choices. If you stack your reserve grade team with the kind of expensive proven first grade talent you're advocating for you can't spend that money on the, y'know, first grade team. Contrary to what you say, I don't care about winning reserves - which is why I want qualified backups on tiny salaries playing there, not stars on first grade contracts. A smart move for reserves is signing a player who is close to or at first grade standard but costs nothing.

By the same token, the absolutely best option for a fourth or fifth choice half is someone who might be part of a winning first grade team in a pinch and doesn't cost anything. That is what literally every team in the comp has in that role.

Let's be honest. You have absolutely no clue how teams construct rosters. Instead of carrying on making a fool of yourself here why not spend 10 minutes looking at KOE Cup squads and seeing who the best first grade teams have in the halves. Then come back here and tell me which of those are chewing up half a million of first grade salary cap or is a "genuine first grader" (your words).

Question if anyone could answer greatly appreciated

Is there any information on tickets for the trail against the dogs

We dont need to sign back ups..as 3 x wooden spooners,we dent want rejects ..we need genuine first graders
Weve already got plenty of fill ins
Plus..weve got a lot of good kids coming thru...most wont make it,but some will
and youll get a cple of years of discounted $$ out of them...until they meet I Moses and it all changes
It's a NSW Cup deal not an NRL one. And it's a great NSW cup signing at that

The morale of the joint only improves when the NRL team starts winning.. the rest is peripheral tbh
Need to focus on the main prize...the rest will look after itself over time
Last thing we need to do is fill scarce top 30 slots with perennial fringe 1st graders...[particularly in the playmaking area where weve got so many kids coming thru we have to lose some(Large)
He's not signed to a top 30 deal though Goober

Of course the priority is the NRL team & winning! But to become a strong development club, we need depth and just as important experience in NSW Cup.

The likes of Kurt Falls & Tristan Hope will not lead us to NRL glory but they will help educate & lead our Cup players many who are 20-22yo. Depth also creates competition for spots which in turn develops a hungry squad and the selection of in-form players.

And I said a winning Cup & Flegg team will ‘help’ boost morale not dictate it.

I personally rate the recruitment of the likes of Falls, Hope, Charlie Murray, Eiden Ackland & Jayden Tanner as extremely important in the improvement of our NRL team.

This is missing a really important point. He'll be on peanuts for 2025 and the Tigers are the only club that can improve that. If he's prepared to play all season for maybe a quarter of what he'd get on an upgraded contract that says one thing and one thing only: he wants to test his value at the end of the season. And if that's the case, 90%+ chance he's gone. There is only one point in this process where the Tigers can offer him something other clubs can't match or beat, and that's now.
Look, I bet Galvin wants to test his value.
I bet every player wants to test their value, except many of the guys at Penrith for ages... they were playing for Unders*

Then he will get a few Big money offers. Some will offer 600k, some will be crazy high. Particularly if Ciraldo or someone gets it into his head that Galvin is a 1m player, it will go stupidly high.
No way any player would sign now for 500k for 5 years. You test the market and see what your worth is.

I'm hoping that the club has been good enough and the mates strong enough that Galvin decides to stay here and stay on fair market value. Galvin is a good player, but not a match winner by himself... yet.

*oddly some players at Easts too.
