WTF – Wests Tigers Faithful Podcast

Didn't get a chance to get to it until about midnight last night. Much prefer to engage with it live and catch the banter on the side. I think the predictiosn for this weekend are realistic, but I trust that we overperform and trouble the Storm a little. I don't expect to win but would prefer to be will in the fight for the duration than being blown out by a few quixk tries as a result of a lapse on concentration. After last week I think Mr Galvin is going to be dealing with some heavy traffic.
I can see Melbourne scoring a few tries in clusters and blowing the scoreline out. first 20 is vital to being within 12, let alone having a positive result.

Enjoyed the pod as always. Our Storm encounters are either big blow outs or very close games. With the injection of quality our roster has received this year Iam expecting a close encounter, even down there south of the boarder. I would be satisfied with a very competitive loss and over the moon with any kind of win

Hi Team,
Well done the other day - hard task after such a flogging. Also great to see a bit of robust discussion between you guys and in the side bar. The YT format is great and it was worth me leaving early Tuesday morning to get back in time to catch it. There is always a nugget in the podcast or in the sidebar that gets me thinking differently. The passion, humour and footy discussion is at the right level, so thanks. Just want to make sure you guys know that your effort is appreciated and keep the ball rolling as we get into the mid season grind and life starts interfering with footy passion.
Cheers

Fella's once again another great episode. Please keep them coming as they are a highlight of each week. Fingers crossed next week is a wincast which will be all the sweeter following last weekends aberration.

Depth is a concern. We also need to hope that we can find a few diamonds in the rough in the second half of the year. I haven't completely given up on Naden as a centre yet as he might still be getting confidence back in his body, he does seem to have gotten the shit play out of his games from last year that led to repeated penalties (I'm very close to drawing a line through him🙂. Kit needs to step up and we need a couple more decent recruits in the coming weeks.

I heard on TigerTown that Latu Fainu had another hamstring injury along with the thumb. If so that's a very worrying trend. I have had very high hopes for the kid and think he may well compliment Luai better than Gavlin.

As time goes on I'm more inclined to let go of Galvin early. Probably the end of this season. Originally I wanted to send him to Reggies for 18 months. He's trying however isn't the same player he was prior to the sit down and I think the on going to impact the team over time.

Bula is pure gold. I think his ceiling extremely high and probably a season or two away still.

Anyway thanks for the show, your humour and insights make my week. Pitched perfectly.

thanks Growls. extremely kind.

depth is a massive worry. personally it's time to put a line thru Naden. use him as a winger for the remainder of the year and cut ties afterwards. Kit would've been ideal this week but unfortunately a concussion from a fortnight ago has seen him miss out. the Tigertown lads were correct, Latu did strain a hammy midway thru the rehab for his thumb.

don't really mind what we do with Galvin, I just hope that we swap for something beneficial while we hold the cards. a lot of talent in the junior ranks at both Canterbury and Parramatta.

agree on Bula. he's special.

speak soon!

Good, robust discussion on this one fellas.

Huge recruitment window coming up for next year. Lessons must be learnt from the last few years and more first grade/cup depth will result in us not burning out the talents of our development players. The Bulldogs top-down model of recruitment and development has to be the aim. Unfortunately I don't think Benji can drop a guy like Sam Fainu for Porter at the moment. If he does that, and they lose, the pressure on him only grows. Richo and the fans want results now.

I am pretty hopeful for this week. Feel like we have had 3 or 4 "most" important games of the year already this year, but this one feels big...

thanks BD22 ya legend.

agreed that we need to bring in a few players for the first grade side and then a couple underneath to really build out the depth chart. once that's sorted we won't be far away.

you're right there. Sunday night will be massive. will be the biggest test of the character of the group bouncing back after a terrible performance.

If Benji can't get them up for this game it will be disappointing.

1000018889.jpgSG Ball, into some flegg and reserve grade in the 2nd half of the year. This is how teenagers should be brought on, even the most talented ones.

Once again enjoyed pod . I enjoy your youthful banter . Anyway I guess it is obvious to most rusted on Tigers followers our roster at present is not close to a top eight roster. Sure our very best 17 fit and fresh will compete with most clubs. Sadly if you’re lucky, that happens only for the first few weeks, after that injuries, form slides and the grind starts to take their toll. It happens to all clubs, but that’s when you rely on depth.

Our top 17 has way to many players who should be depth players rather than being top 17 week in and week out. Fingers crossed Richo delivers a few players very soon.

Hi Team,

Worked through the podcast and well into this morning; but managed to get a tender off this morning so worth the effort. Was fortunate enough to get a bit of a sleep in and catch you guys over brunch.

Great analysis in the mid season review, it that has given me some food for thought. Will have to see if I can look at our line speed as to the eye it, and our inside pressure, seems to have dropped off over the last three weeks. I certainly had the feel that defensively we were able to contain the long range tries better prior to the St Merge game. To my eye that is when we really started to fall off the game pace. I expected the defensive stats would support that - perhaps not.

Anyway - enjoyed the detail and and conclusions.

Given the Galvin leak this morning surely he won't be playing NRL for us again unless we have injuries. So could be plenty to chat about next week now. At present I don't think he is in our top 17 performers at the moment so shuffling him off the Reggies was probably already on the cards.

Hope to catch you guys live next week!

Mac giving it to TDS … and mentioning Harry Grant “who never started until he was 22”… TDS will be 22 come early 2027 … the first year of his next deal…he will be a starting hooker by then too, but it appears it wont be with us …
