Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Are you freaking kidding me ? Seriously you want to only be loyal and give a go to people that are “approved” by the moral majority ? It’s Un Australian mate , Terrell has done nothing but be Incredible for the club and being there for people when the chips are down or when they are being outcasted or scapegoated unfairly by others is exactly when real people and real character is shown .. you want our club to be fake fair weather friends only ? That disgusts me and I’m embarrassed to think you could actually think this way….
No need for melodramatics. Don’t shoot the messenger. They have a terrible rep, which I think is unfortunate for Terrell as he is the cleanskin of the trio. I will stand by my belief that if the club wants to breed a family culture, bringing known thugs like Taylan and Tyrone isn’t the way to go. It’s actually ridiculous. But what’s done is done.

Some calls to be made for our off contract players

Tumeth - farewell
Matamua - farewell

Naden? Time to move on
Feledy? Eh, perhaps a cup contract?
Staines? Good back up, depth option.
Douihei? Not sure.

We need some better options tbf
Notice with Naden and Doueihi they both don't 'fit' a position..

Feledy just isn't up to first grade. But both Naden and AD have never baked themselves into a position, and I think that hurts both them and the team.

Toa has been able to find better grove at Center and staying at Center. Turuva/Skelton likewise keep them at wing.

Look I get it you used to have your beau Ryans and Danny Garcia's etc. Now it is a bit more specialised and it's what tries you let through that's more important then what tries you score. It's why Nofo hurt our team so much even though he was a massive line crosser.

TLDR: guys like Mason should try to find a position soon. Keep people who fit their position and punt Utilities unless they are a damn gun.

Latu playing first receiver at lock, with Luai at second receiver then Bula potentially polishing those sets off.

Plug in the experience of Reynolds to guide us around the park - also has an exceptional goal kicking game.

I think it’s a perfect formula.

I personally just think Latu at first receiver gives us so much, he sets the tone for the play. If you don’t respect his running game and give him space he can cut right through you, however if you let him get to close he can straighten the line up and ball play perfectly to create space out wide. He’d be a defensive nightmare for forwards to read, a threat both ways.

He also has history playing at 9 for Tonga as well, so he has proven he’s more than capable handling the middle defensively.

Happy either way tbh. I wouldn’t be disappointed if got the 6 jersey as well.
I thought the club saw Galvin as moving to the back row in time with Latu the long term half. But Galvin didn’t want a bar of it. Presumably one of the complaints in his dossier.

So a UK 6 is moving Latu Fainu off his chosen position ? …. I don’t agree mate . Dodd is the latest in a long line of halves who have figured out how far behind the standard of nrl super league is.
Chuck is everyone’s favourite Jackson Hastings as well . Only the knights (LOL) thought he was worth 800k . Bidded against themselves , and now he’s plonked in KOE.
I would never ever offer big money to a pommy half. Train and trial at best …
Ellery Hanley went well

Yeah, I was going to bump Taylan, but he’s working hard to redeem himself even if legally he doesn’t have to.

It shows some kind of effort-and self reflection.

As a player, we know he is an absolute weapon, has Terrell’s energy and goes after absolutely everything.

He could well get us back into finals contention.

He has to keep his head down until he’s earned the boys respect. And they should give him the opportunity.

But if steps off the bus for a carry-on, I’d flick him before I took my next breath.

All our ex panthera, they know each other pretty well as it is. Being accepted by us would be big deal for him personally.

Beating the bunnies for his signature was a coup. Not always, but Bennett usually gets his man. So wd r&r.

Not disagreeing with you, agree 100%.

However, the way I see it only up until a few moths ago the club were planning for a long term halves combination of Galvin and Luai for the next 10 years. That was the plan and we know this for a fact.

So for the last 18 months, what did the club have in mind for Latu. Where was he being trained to play long term. This is a kid we signed with a lot noise around him due to his hype and talent on big coin. It’s impossible for me we had no full plan for him and if we didn’t. Latu would have enough clubs lined up to be gone already.

It might be at lock and I can see where his game attributes really gives us a massive spark in that position. But if he was a 6, then I wouldn’t complain at all as well. The kids gonna be a gun wherever he plays.
I agree with what you are saying, but this is a club who hired:
Sullivan + Galvin + Sezer + Latu....

Just saying were not that good at long term planning.

Ofcourse getting someone like Reynolds down here would be awesome. As players age, we can have more of a bench rotation. I am sure Latu would be ok with game time filling in for either Api or Reynolds...

I also believe Api + Reynolds is a known combination.

Adam Reynolds and Jarome Luai as a combination just fits perfectly in terms of balance and fit.

Even if it’s for one season…. It’ll be like Aidan Seizer on steroids.

Seems to me the goal is for Latu Fainu to play 13 moving forward which I personally love for him. His tackling and tackle breaking ability, with his ball skills and strong running game makes it a no brainer.

Get Reynolds for 2026…… then throw the cheque book at Luke Metcalf to come back home to Sydney in 2027.
What you're forgetting is that Latu Fainu is TWENTY. He's not being groomed into a lock - he's being given time to develop his game

Even if he plays second fiddle the entire of next year, he'll be 21 and an extremely young half.

Tigers fans seem to think it's normal to play kids at 18 who have no experience playing against actual men. Look at Storm - they leave guys in reserve grade until they're 21/22 and ready to play grade.

As of right now Latu has practically never played 80 minutes in first grade. He's barely even played it in reserve grade. Give him time to develop!

Galvin (18) and Luai (28) both got 5 years 6 million offered to them to be our long term 6 and 7.

You can’t tell me the club didn’t want Latu to start for another 5-6 years at least?

He’s on pretty good coin. It’s clear we had a plan for him elsewhere for the last 18 months which seemed to be in the middle, which is where he was being played at.

What is annoying is that that would have only been “the plan” because Latu is not an entirtled punk that refused to play lock because he saw himself as a half even though of the 2 his physical attributes were more naturally suited to the halves to the 195 cm half that’s main gift was fitness that would suit a modern 13 .. us pandering to the spoilt one may almost have cost us the team first and more talented Fainu … we may have dodged the mother of all bullets

Galvin was the preferred half, Latu started the year in cup. If Galvin stayed, it's a different story with Latu

Now that Galvins gone, Latu is the 6. The only reason he came off the bench last week is because he's coming back from injury.

The plan is hopefully to get more minutes into him so he can start back at 6 soon. I was hoping they'd pick him in NSW cup to be honest

Getting the one of the most talented junior halves around and converting him to a lock, when literally all his best attributes are as a half, is so dumb. To be fair, our club is know to be dumb.

Chammas did a Q&A on his Instagram

- Is unsure on legitimacy of Reynolds reports and can’t work out whether it’s WT being genuine or trying to make Brisbane sweat

- KPP won’t be released early to WT. Taylan to likely get a top 30 deal pending what happens between now and June 30

- discussions ongoing about Tyrone May coming to WT for 2026

Ellery Hanley went well
That was almost 40 years ago bro . What may have been a gully all that time ago , is now the Grand Canyon.
If the nrl is serious about fixing the world game they need to look at a touring SG ball team with nrl level coaching , that competes in at least SG ball tournament , if not Flegg .
The issue with the poms is there don’t have the grounding that our kids do with touch and oz tag , as well as playing in conditions that allow you to chuck the ball around . They come over as adults and they’re at a Cup level , but because they have a name for themselves ,command a large sum of money .

We needed a second rower and a left centre, we've signed both of those... what's next?

A goal kicker?
A proper lock forward?
Another bench prop?
Fullback depth?

Hopefully all of the above
think we need all except for fullback depth. Laulili’i is the real deal and young Brookes coming thru is a wonderful talent.

besides Reynolds, I’m not sure who or what we could find in terms of goalkickers…
